Naively called in for lunch on a Saturday, seeing as Pippins had been refurbished and was now called The Apple Tree I was curious to check it out. Somehow the place was busy. We found a table and waited several minutes for the leftovers from the previous customers to be taken away and several more minutes for the dirty table to be wiped with a damp cloth. We ordered a cheese burger each and then waited…and waited…and waited…Biting the bullet we enquired to make sure they had remembered us – they had, our food was on its way. Turned out they are just terribly understaffed and the obvious dork of a manager must be as capable to run a business as much as Stephen Hawkins is to run a marathon. The lone waitress and the lone barmaid were absolute sweethearts though. Poor cows were rushed off their feet, they were very friendly and polite – I hope they get a better job elsewhere soon.
It took close to an HOUR for our dismal meal to come! I wish I could say the food was worth the wait, but it wasn’t. The stodgy, floppy burger and the chips from the day before seemed to of been heated up by a radiator and made a Rustlers microwave burger taste gourmet. I couldn’t eat it all for the good of my own health and we couldn’t wait to get out the place. I certainly won’t be coming back, I’d rather eat road kill.
