Only there for a night but all was as needed . Polite and fast check in , clean room , good sleep . In fact , after staying in every Premier Inn around Carlisle , I'd say this was best nights kip I'd had . Didn't use bar or restaurant , so can't comment .

This is a great value hotel for a weekend break with friends. Sheila (my namesake!) at check-in is always pleasant, helpful and very efficient, a credit to the hotel. We got 3 lovely rooms (302/4/6), very clean, comfy bed and spotless bathroom. We have stayed here often and always manage to get a great deal on the price. Thanks again Ibis Hotel.

Room Tip: Rooms at back facing on to carpark are quieter. Rooms at front are very noisy due to the revellers o...

The hotel itself is in very easy walking distance from the station and is close to numerous restaurants, pubs and bars. The room was spacious, very clean and modern and the bed very comfy. The bathroom was exceptionally clean and the power shower was fabulous - although we could have done with more towels for two of us. The bar was open 24 hours and served great food and snacks and had a nice, relaxed atmosphere.

We stayed there on a Thursday night and our room overlooked Walkabout and the Rock Bar which resulted in quite a lot of noise, going up to about 2am but no doubt earlier in the week it wouldn't be such an issue. That is my only whinge. For £34 a night it was excellent value and I would definitely stay again when visiting Carlisle.

Room Tip: Away from Walkabout and the Rock Bar

I normally like to put a bit of effort into my reviews, but this doesn't deserve it.

I'd rather stay in a portaloo than hand over cash for this place again.

The hotel is dated, has a horrendous aroma throughout and offers all the sound proofing from the bars and strip club outside as a Wendy house would.

The one piece bathroom thing gives you all the modern convenience of a caravan.

Find a guest house on Warwick road instead.

Staff were fine, breakfast was okay.

This hotel is an easy walk from the train station. The beds are unusually comfortable, especially since this is a budget hotel. The rooms are compact, but are nicely organized. The bathroom uses a small space well- we managed to keep the floor dry when using the shower.

We pre-booked for for two nights with breakfast included. We only stayed one night because my husband had a fall that resulted in a badly injured back. Our trip was over and we spent one day arranging transportation back to the states. The staff at our hotel went out of their way to help us and even gave us a lift to the pharmacy for needed medicine.

Our room was on the second floor and toward the Bingo parlor which my husband heard (having lots of back pain), but I did not. Requesting a quiet room might be wise.

The dining room was fully booked with a group for dinner, but we were seated at a pub table. The potato leek soup was delicious and again the wait staff really looked after us. They even paid for our soup and pizza since we only stayed one night, but had prepaid for two.

Breakfast was full English and as good as hotels with more stars. The selection was large and good. I especially liked the house yogurt and the french breads that I toasted to make tartines.

I would like to return to Carlisle one day and will certainly choose the Ibis again, because of their great staff and breakfast buffet.
