“Plastic commercialism”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 May 2014

Consistently poor range of films playing to the pop end of the market. When really interesting films come out a trip to Newcastle is necessary. The building is a box with no love of the arts or film. Youze pays yer money and takes yer choice; of which there is little in Carlisle for film lovers.

“It's ok..but grubby!”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 April 2014

Large multi cinema, near city centre and train station..so easy to find. The screens are based over a couple of floors and are fair sized, having been several times it can be grubby and I feel expensive, roughly worked out at £10 per person!
Seats are allocated when you purchase your tickets, and there are 'premium seats' available which really aren't much different to standard. Drinks and sweeties are very expensive!

“Very poor staff organisation of queues to pay / buy food.”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 April 2014

I thought it would be smart to buy tickets from the machine but then discovered that when we arrived to watch the movie we had to join the queue behind everyone buying tickets in order to buy food & drinks. This is a stupid idea as we had to queue for what seemed like ages instead of taking our seats. There is very little incentive for prebookers who want food or drink other than to sneak your own in !!! I also thought staff member was rude when calling out that we had to join the line even though I had approached her to ask.

“Numbered seating little odd”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 April 2014

Came here for the first and must say only time. The place wasn't that busy and we were given our seats numbers when we went in were shown to where we were to sit. Once the movie had begun we noticed that their were many empty seats and while we were squashed into our seats and rows like sardines. I asked one of the attendants if we could move and was old the seats had been reserved. OKAY! But half way through the movie it was clear no one was arriving to fill they seats so my partner and I just moved. We then noticed that many other people did the same. It was only when we were leaving did we hear a member of staff state that the plan hadn't worked and now had to clean every row. SO turns out the reason customers were being made to sit pretty much on the laps of a stranger was because the staff didn't want to have to clean all the hall after we had left. Well sorry but no I want comfort and arm space more so when the movie wasn't sold out and the seating was available!
