“A great staff overcame any problems!”
Reviewed 16 April 2014

We stayed here for three days for the BIAFF Festival. Unfortunately the event had been double booked, however these problems were overcome by busing some delegates to other hotels this was a shame as it meant that after events chats in the bar were curtailed. But the staff remained cool and I heard no real murmur of discontent. This was I think down to the staff who smiled at all times and made everything work. I must mention the following staff members who made the difference. Barbara at reception, Simba and Milena front house. Function food is always questionable but I have no complaints in that area, it was always served hot and presented well.
Full marks to the staff.
The only BUT is the front steps into the Hotel I watched over the three days a countless number stumble. They are very badly set and really are a safety hazard and should be altered. So if you are elderly or have a leg problem take care. There is a wheel chair lift at the front door by the way and due to the double booking we had to use one of the rooms for disabled and it was very well amounted and spacious.

Dear Anthony G,
Thank you for taking the time to write your comments with regards to you attending the BIAFF Festival at the hotel.

It was a please to host the event again and I know that both myself and the hotel team enjoyed working the event over the 3 days. You are correct in saying that we had to book a number of room within another local hotel with regards to the accommodation. However I understand that the transportation offered between the two hotels was excellently coordinator.

I personally thank you for the comments regarding the team and please be assured that these have been passed on to each member. At the same time I note you comment about the front steps and again take on-board your comments

Once again thank you for your feedback and I do hope that you will return to the hotel in the near future.

We came in through a fantastic offer on Ebay. The whole weekend was fantastic value for money.
When you arrive you encounter a tower block that looks so out of place. Inside the corridors are dark and claustrophobic. The windows are not good and the décor in the bathrooms is reminiscent of the 1970's. All this, and the fact that the beds are not the most comfortable of beds, aside the hotel has many features that are positive.
The staff are very nice, courteous and friendly. You are made to feel special and would be happy to ask for anything knowing that you would get a warm reaction.
The rooms are fine - they are fairly roomy and have enough facilities for your overnight needs. Ours had a lovely view of the river and surroundings.
Our deal included dinner on the first night. We had starters and a main course - all was very nice. We then shared a bowl of Ben and Jerry's ice cream - receiving a very generous portion size. The bar bill was not too overly priced for a hotel.
Breakfast was in the restaurant that overlooked the river. The buffet nature was very good. The views made the whole experience worth it. However, I was so glad to be staying in this hotel looking out at the fantastic view than at the Swan Hotel potentially looking out at the Park Inn (that's where the advantage of being in this hotel pays off).
Once you get past the 'uniqueness' of the hotel, everything is worth the stay. If you want charm - this is not the hotel for you.

Dear HeathfieldClaret,
Thank you for taking the time to write your comments with regards to your stay at the hotel.

Feedback is of the upmost importance to ensure that both myself and the team improve the service and standards we offer. It was a please to read your comments within the last year the hotel has invested a great deal of money on the interior of the hotel and the feedback is positive. The key area we need to focus on now is the outside of the hotel.

The operations team and I have read your comments about the welcome, room, service and Breakfast and we thank you for these.

Once again thank you for your comments and we look forward to welcoming you back to the hotel soon.

I stayed here for one night for a national bridge congress. I had what I think was a standard single room. It was well equipped with a comfortable single bed, good heating controls and an excellent overhead shower with the controls at the opposite end to the water so you can set the temperature before getting in. I would have preferred a bath though. There was a full size bath towel (makes a change from tiny ones in some hotels) and a safe in the room that was free. So too was WiFi.
The hotel is set on the river by the main town bridge and the town is only 5 minutes walk away across the bridge. There are plenty of shops and restaurants. Both sides of the river are landscaped and there are nice walks.
Buffet breakfast was excellent with a good choice. We had a special set dinner withy a very limited choice but what we had was excellent. Only downside? My bridge could have been better.

Room Tip: A room on a higher floor overlooking the river would be an advantage if you like looking out the wi...

The accomodation was very good, staff were friendly and hardworking, beds very comfortable and the food was delicious. Could only be improved by a larger selection of wines and a few more staff behind the bar for big events.

My wife and I put together a party of 10 to attend a cancer charity ball at the Park Inn.
The exterior of the building is probably best described as ugly but that belies the interior - We were given an excellent room as were all the other four couples.
Most importantly the cleanliness of our room and the whole hotel generally was excellent.
The staff were friendly and welcoming and there were sufficient staff there to attend not only to our function but also to another function which was on, on the same evening.
There must have been 250 people at the function we attended and despite the numbers, the food was served hot and all the people on our table were able to dine at the same time - There was none of the dribs and drabs service I have experienced elsewhere.
The menu chosen, in this case from a menu of alternatives was tasty if unadventurous, but the latter would have been down to the organisers cost considerations.
The buffet breakfast was also excellent, again served piping hot and plenty of it.
All in all an excellent experience.
It is not a location I would suggest as being romantic but for Bedford Town Access and functions such as these it is ideal.
Well done to all the staff.

This hotel is modern, and well run. Our room was comfortable, well-equipped, and had great views over the river. It is perfectly situated for the town centre, which is just over a bridge. The staff were friendly and competent. All in all, a good stay. Of course, if you want olde-world charm, this is not the place...

Room Tip: Get a river view, if you can afford a bit extra...
