“Third time lucky?!”
Reviewed 26 November 2013

This is the third time we've eaten here, twice in the restaurant on a Saturday night (Aug and Sept) and this time in the bar. Restaurant food is quite pricey for what it is and isn't quite special enough to justify the price as a special treat. But my main issue is the lack of atmosphere in the restaurant on both times I visited, just a real shame as the place has a had a nice refurb in the last year, looks good, just a shame it lacks that x-factor.

Had lunch at the weekend in the bar area, which is always handy as you can take the dog in. Much better value food and there felt there was at least a bit of atmosphere in there, so would certainly try that again.

All in all, nice country village-type pub, lovely beer garden too, just lacks a little something to make it stand out from others in the area like Swan in Salford, Black Horse in Ireland and Leg Straps in Wootton.

“Average”

Sorry this place is average at best and pricey for where it is! Had dinner here on a Saturday night and service was slow and food was ok....nothing special and seemed a run of the mill pub grub type of place.

“Very nice lunch”
Reviewed 10 August 2013 via mobile

Stopped here for an unplanned lunch on a Friday afternoon.
The place has clearly been renovated recently and the improvements are impressive.
My wife and I both enjoyed our lunch and they will do half price kids portions of anything on the menu. Our 2 yr old loved his fish.
The staff were very welcoming and friendly throughout our time there.
I recommend giving it a go if you have never been or haven't been recently since the improvements.
I look forward to returning for an evening meal.

“excellent”

The refurbishments are fantastic, food amazing, you pay that little bit more but the experience is wonderful, would highly recommend the posh egg on toast and the plaice. Can't wait to go again!

“Excellent food, good atmosphere, bit pricey”
Reviewed 13 June 2013

We have visited the Three Tuns several times over the years, and the recent improvements since the present owners took over is fantastic. The whole pub now has a modern contemporary feel whilst still retaining that traditional pub atmosphere.
They are currently building a large extension to the resturant but still manage to produce excellent food.
We went there recently and both had fillet steak with a red wine and shallot sauce. It was delicious although we needed the extra salad we ordered as a side as the steak only came with one mushroom, some watercress and about 8 chips - a bit measley for £19.95.
The desserts were to die for - the best chocolate brownie I have ever had, and a delicious lemon and cucumber dessert which was wonderfully refreshing.
The whole bill came to £67 which I thought was a bit steep for 2 steaks, 2 desserts and a couple of glasses of wine and 2 cokes.
Still we thoroughly enjoyed it and our waitress was a gem, friendly and bubbly yet efficient.
