As it is our local we thought it would be right to give it one more chance but this our 4th meal was terrible. Although the renovations must have cost a fortune it is no longer a cosy village pub but a ghastly gastro pub which could be anywhere. Ghastly gastro pub surroundings, pretentious menu, Michelin star prices and greasy spoon food. Such a shame when you think how good this pub used to be with a lovely atmosphere, used by villagers and people from outside the village alike with good honest food which was great value for money. The fact theat you have no problem in getting a table any night says it all.

This is the third time we've eaten here, twice in the restaurant on a Saturday night (Aug and Sept) and this time in the bar. Restaurant food is quite pricey for what it is and isn't quite special enough to justify the price as a special treat. But my main issue is the lack of atmosphere in the restaurant on both times I visited, just a real shame as the place has a had a nice refurb in the last year, looks good, just a shame it lacks that x-factor.

Had lunch at the weekend in the bar area, which is always handy as you can take the dog in. Much better value food and there felt there was at least a bit of atmosphere in there, so would certainly try that again.

All in all, nice country village-type pub, lovely beer garden too, just lacks a little something to make it stand out from others in the area like Swan in Salford, Black Horse in Ireland and Leg Straps in Wootton.

Sorry this place is average at best and pricey for where it is! Had dinner here on a Saturday night and service was slow and food was ok....nothing special and seemed a run of the mill pub grub type of place.

Stopped here for an unplanned lunch on a Friday afternoon.
The place has clearly been renovated recently and the improvements are impressive.
My wife and I both enjoyed our lunch and they will do half price kids portions of anything on the menu. Our 2 yr old loved his fish.
The staff were very welcoming and friendly throughout our time there.
I recommend giving it a go if you have never been or haven't been recently since the improvements.
I look forward to returning for an evening meal.
