I'm biased - I'd eat at St Helena every week if I could, but another fab meal here tonight nonetheless

An amazing caesar salad amuse bouche

Soy chicken and lobster & crab for entrees

Melt in the mouth fillet steak with sensational cauliflower fritters for a main and delicious lemon and chocolate puddings

All accompanied by tasty house champagne and a longwood shiraz at a perfect temperature

Faultless service from Raf & Frank and the team

Genuinely, wherever I experience fine dining across the world my benchmark is now St Helena

My missus is taking me to Petrus for my 42nd in a couple of weeks - what's the betting it's not as good as St Helena?

Definitely not at this amazing restaurant! But, what you will find is a memorable, relaxing evening, where every morsel of food is a taste explosion prepared by the chef truly worthy of his Masterchef crown.

You may think this review is written by the restaurant owners but I can assure you it's not.

To use a modern phrase, I was 'blown away' by my experience at St Helena - a recently discovered jewel hidden in the tiny village of Elstow in Bedfordshire.

Open the wrought iron gates, through the garden and enter the door into a place where you immediately will feel comfortable and will, most likely, hear a voice welcoming you as if you are an old friend he hasn't seen for years. That voice belongs to Raphael, (Raf), one of the owners - a unique host with the ability to make you feel relaxed and entertained.

It is unlikely that you will be just passing through Elstow and 'happen upon' St Helena. So, I recommend that you book a table, check your map and look forward to an incredible dining experience, fabulous food, and an unforgettably delightful evening.

first visit to the st Helena it definitely wont be the last
A gorgeous setting and a very warm welcome the service was exceptional not intrusive but we never waited for anything, the food was delicious and the plaice fillet on prawn risotto I had for a starter was to die for. the lamb main course was scrumptious and the lemon desert was a fine finish to a very enjoyable meal,
we were made to feel very welcome and although the restaurant obviously caters to the more affluent there was no stuffiness or snobbery
It was my birthday and a slate with happy birthday and petite fours served with coffee was a nice touch
For the quality of the food served the £45.00 price tag for the 3 courses is well worth it throw in the venue, service and welcome and its even better.
if you're looking for exceptional food, a warm welcome and a fantastic venue then you need to visit the st Helena
