We had a wonderful meal on Saturday evening. Excellent food, prompt, polite and dedicated service and an all round lovely experience in what was our first visit to this restaurant. We will return sooner rather than later and whole heartedly recommend Three Rooms. In fact, we spoke to some friends about it on Sunday am who promptly booked for next Saturday.
I would have only one suggestion. To the rear of the restaurant there are two tables for two which are placed along side two very large tables which are evidently set for larger groups/parties. I understand the time of year and I understand larger groups go out to eat and thoroughly enjoy themselves, however, we were sat next to a table of 16 young men on a celebratory evening. They were generally polite so no problem but it was extremely loud and my wife and I were barely able to have a conversation. We literally couldn't hear each other. In the end we found it quite funny but it certainly wasn't intimate or romantic on what was a rare date night without the children. A couple sat on the other table for two actually left before ordering their meal which is a shame.
Once the group of guys had finished and left there was another mixed party of probably circa 25 arrive, clearly on a Christmas do and clearly the worse for ware. Language was poor and lots of shouting from one end of the table to the other. One particular lady was using the F word like it was going out of fashion. Thankfully we were paying the bill as they arrived!!
I completely understand the need to cater for groups, and placing them to the rear of the restaurant makes perfect sense so as not to overly disturb other diners, but to place a table for two next to them doesn't make any sense other than to make use of the small space for commercial reasons. A couple on a romantic evening out do not want to sit next to large groups.
We will definately return as we really enjoyed the food and service, but when booking we will be sure to ask for a table nearer the front of the restuarant away from party bookings.
