The property consists of a main building and a separate wooden annex around the backside of the main building.
It is your typical older scottish building, which is to say nice in an old way and with the features that follow from belonging to an earlier age (or bygone era as another reviewer terms it)
The wooden annex is a motel style log cabin, partitioned into rooms. Its basic but functional. Generally what you would expect in any 2 star motel.
A definite plus for us was that the property had 2 queen beds. A basic concept in most places of the world now a days, but as you will find has not really spread to many places in Scotland where they seem to think all travellers are couples and only need 1 bed pr. room.
Parking is free and plentiful.
If you consider dining at the location you'd want to note that it is borderline fine dining. The food is good and the price is high. Plan accordingly.
Breakfast was included and ok.
If you pass through Ballater this is an ok option. The city itself is a bit of a nowhere. You come for the nature and trekking I suppose and not much else, as there isnt much else there.More
