A lovely hotel, serving excellent food in the bar/restaurant. Our party were a mixed age group of hill walkers, and I have to see we loved Ballater, and with the hotels central location. It was a perfect choice for us. The hotel would of got 5 stars, but breakfast let it slightly down, most of our party asked for poached eggs for breakfast, these came out like hard bullets on both days, but everything else on our (large) plates was very tasty. Lastly our thanks to Julia and her excellent staff, who were very professional, polite and courteous.

Room tip: If you are a light sleeper, avoid room 1.

Thank you for such a lovely review and for taking the time. I have made a note about the eggs and that is something we are working on. Your comments really are appreciated - good and bad and it is nice something so constructive and nicely put. Thank you

This is our third visit to a Crerar hotel/Inn on the very reasonable managers special that they offer. The Deeside Inn was welcoming and friendly and the staff were attentive to our needs. Good food as well.

Spent two night at the weekend on the Managers special, upgraded (thank you very much), dinner bed and breakfast, received a lovely welcome, really friendly staff, any questions or requests were dealt with quickly, the food is fantastic and great for value, I could recommend basically it all, ours was great and those that passed us on the way to other guests looked great too, just don't count the calories as the portions are whoppers, the heating was not a bother at all, it wasn't cold, the place has heaters and wood burning hearths, the showers are hot, the mirror and glass steam up but to my knowledge we call it condensation and its part of life and occurs when hot air encounters a cold (see laws of physics for more information on this) so from our viewpoint nothing at all was encountered to spoil our stay so if you are reading this having read various negative reviews, all I would suggest is keep an open mind and go with the majority of the reviews which are positive and not from the bah humbugs!!!

Room tip: Most of the food on the menu can be bought locally

Spent the weekend at this hotel from 10/3-12/3 with another 2 couples, I hadn't personally been in balladeer before this but had spent time in nearby braemar. First impressions were a smashing hotel with plenty of parking round about it and very central for nearby amenities.check in no problems with very friendly and helpful staff. Our room looked out onto the road but it was a very quiet road so no complaints and it let my wife have a nosey to watch what was going on.the room itself very comfortable with the amenities that I need , despite other reviews of this hotel we had no problems whatsoever with the temperature in all areas of the hotel. Sleep quality was great in a very comfortable bed. Book your dinner and food for both dinner and breakfast is superb excellent quality and choice very attractively served and again by cheerful pleasant staff.
Lovely bar in hotel serving teas and meals throughout the majority of the day.
My only gripe were the bedside lights that never had a bulb in either over the weekend meaning you depended on the main light whilst in bed not ideal but in their defence when we pointed it out we were given a complimentary drink for both myself and my wife ,nice touch.
To sum up agreat weekend in a lovely hotel great staff and best of all fabulous food
Would I return ? IIN THE BLINK OF AN EYE

Thank you for such a lovely review, which is much appreciated. I am very pleased that you enjoyed your time with us but was sorry to hear about the missing lightbulbs - that is not how it should be and I will make sure we are more careful. Thank you again and do come and see us again soon. Best wishes, Joanna
