“Friendly, central, comfortable - everything you need.”
Reviewed 16 April 2017 for a stay in April 2017

I've travelled to Ballater many times, it's a great wee village with plenty to offer. Hillwalking, relaxation and golf are the main reasons I go, and I love it. anyway, this is the first time I've stayed at dune ire and I will definitely return. It's perfect for what I want. Very central, comfortable, welcoming and easily large enough for 6 (although only 5 of us were there). Thanks!

“Central Comfy Apartment”
Reviewed 3 January 2017 for a stay in December 2016

This self catering accommodation is so central but still in a quiet area. We were in Ballater for Hogmanay Hootananny at the Hall which was just along the road from our accommodation. A good night was had by all and Ballater Fireworks were the best we have seen. We stayed for two days so had time to veg on our second day after a walk around Ballater. This accommodation has everything you could ask for with Elizabeth and husband Colin providing milk, tea, coffee and biscuits which is much appreciated. The Co-op was open for any groceries we needed which was great. Hope to be back again in the future.

“Great central location and very well equipped and comfortable accommodation”
Reviewed 29 November 2016 for a stay in October 2016

Ballater is an excellent base for touring this beautiful part of Scotland. Duneire's self catering accommodation is centrally located a short walk from the historic centre of this pretty town. The owner is welcoming and did everything possible to make our stay as enjoyable as possible. The flat is extremely well equipped, comfortable and warm (it was a cold October). We would hope to return when we are next in this area.

“A home away from home”
Reviewed 19 September 2016 for a stay in September 2016

This is the perfect spot to stay to explore the Cairngorms or to just relax. The apartment is very comfortable and it encourages a real sense of relaxation. Everything we needed was there and Elizabeth has been more than generous in providing milk, jams etc for breakfast. Highly recommended.

“Lovely Place to Stay in the Heart of Ballater!”
Reviewed 23 August 2016 for a stay in August 2016

We have had a wonderful few days at Duneire, which really was a home from home! Everything you could possibly need was provided, with beautiful fittings in all of the rooms. we really enjoyed having the sitting room to relax in as well as the lovely large kitchen with a nice table to eat at. Just off the main street of Ballater, the location is perfect for exploring the town as well as other nearby places. There are plenty of places to park easily nearby and the street itself is very quiet. We really appreciated the homely touches in the apartment and how well stocked it all is in terms of pots and pans, dishes, glassware, washing machine and dryer, cooking utensils and everything you could need to make it feel like home for a while. We were made to feel so welcome from owner Elizabeth who was very kind and made us feel at home.

“Location, location, location !!”
Reviewed 2 August 2016 for a stay in June 2016

This apartment is ideally located for exploring Deeside and the Cairngorms National Park and the many distilleries in the area. We had great daytrips to Loch Muik, Balmoral, Braemar and Glenlivet. The little town of Ballater is a delightful place – the farmer’s market on the last Saturday of the month was such fun to visit and we bought beautiful vegies, fresh salmon, the best raspberries ever, tasty cheeses, bread and eggs. Also in town, there is an adequate Co-op for basic foodstuffs, an old-fashioned licensed grocer with shelves groaning with Scottish wares that make ideal presents to take home, a “By Appointment” baker – do try the Balmoral bread – and a friendly and helpful butcher all within easy walking distance of the apartment. There are many marked walking and hiking trails in the area and the info center in town is a wealth of information and maps.
I cannot say enough about the apartment itself – it is so clean and well equipped there is absolutely nothing that has been missed. The rooms are well furnished and the mudroom downstairs is an added bonus when coming back with dirty boots and wet jackets ! There is TV in both living room and kitchen. Wifi reception was excellent and the separate laundry with freezer an unexpected delight with its pretty views over the neighbouring gardens and the hills beyond. The welcoming goodies that awaited us were the best on our entire trip to Scotland – not only was there tea and coffee and cereal in the cupboards and milk in the fridge, but shortbread and homemade jams on the countertop. Elizabeth was so friendly and helpful and it was a pleasure to meet her. I do hope my husband and I can visit this area again.

Thanks Rosalind - we'd be delighted to have you stay again. We aim to treat our guests as we would hope to be treated in the same situation and I think it's lovely to have some local produce for your cuppie (cup of tea/coffee) on arrival and throughout your stay.

Kind regards

Elizabeth and Colin Wilson
