Description: On the edge of the old Manchester to Oxford Road stands The Romper, an old coaching inn welcoming patrons through our doors for over 400 years. With its charming, whitewashed, slate-tiled exterior and rampant lion roaring above the door, The Romper is a former coaching inn, tucked away on a old country lane, on the edge of Altrincham. The Romper is also just a stone’s throw from Manchester Airport, making it a perfect stopover, whether you’re exploring the local area or about to take to the skies. Offering easy access to Cheshire’s lovely villages and towns, including Hale, and Wilmslow, as well as some of the county’s prettiest countryside, Sat in the lovely beer garden on a sunny day, surrounded by leafy lanes, it’s hard to believe how close you are to one of Europe’s busiest airports. In winter, when the log fire crackles in the hearth, and pints of cask ale are being poured under the old-beamed ceilings, you’d be forgiven for thinking you were in a rustic county pub

Visited here whilst staying at the Manchester Airport Premier Inn the night before a flight as was within walking distance and we were so glad we ventured out the hotel to come here. We sat in the garden as it was a beautiful day, but when I went inside later in the evening I was a bit disappointed we didn't sit inside as the restaurant looked beautiful! Had starters and mains, and a couple of drinks (gin and wine) and was very reasonably priced. The menu was varied but still focused and there were excellent vegetarian options with lots of original choices which was great. Would try and come here anytime for a meal before a flight!

We've passed this pub a number of times and never thought to go in, well what a regret we hadn't gone sooner. On arrival we were greeted by friendly staff who got us a table straight away the menu is broad and full of lovely items to choose from. We had roast lamb shoulder, roast beef and the hog burger al were amazing the lamb shoulder was beautiful and tender and we were all so full. They paid our baby special Attention too which was lovely. They have a special summer menu and a two or three course for Sunday we will definitely be back again!!! Also outside seating area looks lovely for the summer, all it needs it a park for the kiddies :)

I have been to the Romper many times and yet to have a bad meal. Service was a little slow this time but the pub was very busy so will let that be the excuse. We were served by Sue and Rob who were both pleasant and easy to deal with. They apologised all the time due to the slow service. Will come back again to the Romper because its friendly eatery, food is always good and is in a brilliant location near to the motorway.

Great place for a meeting and plenty of space. Had the bangers and mash with mushy peas and was delicious.

Price was very reasonable for so close to airport.

Large selection of beers at bar
