“Very little good to say about this hotel”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 July 2014

First - don't stay here. It all started out very badly when we discovered that, even tho the name clearly indicates that it is close to BA's Terminal 5 at Heathrow...it isn't actually even near there if you expect to use the shuttle buses. The shuttle to this hotel took almost an hour to come pick us up. Then getting to the hotel added another 20 mins at least. In the end, we missed being able to get to Windsor Castle that afternoon as we planned. It was a great disappointment.

It took a LONG time to check in too. There were two people attending the desk but one was busy booking rooms for a single person for over 20 minutes at least. The other person was dealing with an unhappy person for quite awhile. There was a family in front of us in the check in line that had a small child who was melting down. And no one appeared to even care! (This is a fairly typical reaction I have seen many times in Britian. It seems we can't "make them care" which is why there are signs all over the place stating that it is not ok to take your frustation out on them!)

Since it took a long time to get our rooms I went over to the bar to get us drinks and the bartender paid NO attention to me. He was chatting with a friend and apparently running back and forth getting things...but not for anyone who was actually waiting to be taken care of.

Find another place to stay!

Dear Guest,

Thank you for taking the time to express your thoughts and concerns regarding your stay with us. We rely on you, our guest, to let us know how we are doing and how we can better meet your needs. Please accept my sincere apology for the unusual condition of the Hotel Hoppa service which inconvenienced your plans for the day. I will also be passing your comments over to the Heathrow National Express Hoppa controller for their reference. We are located just over two miles from Heathrow Terminal 5 which in good traffic conditions is just under a ten minutes journey time from our hotel to Terminal 5.

Please also accept our apologies for the wait when checking in. We do on some occasions experience delays due to the high volume of guests checking in to our hotel on a daily basic as we are a 300 bedroom property. I assure you we do have more than two staff on duty in the reception at any one time, however as we are obligated to assist guests requests staff on some occasions might need to leave the reception desk to do so . I can assure you that this experience is not indicative of our usual high standards when it comes to our hotels quality of service and operational efficiency.

If there is anything we can do to further assist you please do not hesitate to contact us directly by telephone on +44 1753684001.

Sincerely,

Guest Relations.

We stayed at this hotel twice in July prior to flights at Heathrow. It is well located with on-site parking and easy access to rental car drop off points. The room was very quiet with a quiet air conditioning unit. The hair dryer by the mirror in the living area was smart thinking and provision of an ironing room was of value. The double bed in both rooms was poor as it sagged to the centre. Mixing bathroom and living room light switches on the living room side and putting a glass panel in the bathroom door is guaranteed to annoy your partner when you get up at night! The staff were keen to please but struggled with their English so there were a few misunderstandings.

Room price was the same as the Marriott next to the airport. Unfortunately they were booked.
The Air Conditioner was not functioning and very warm. At our request they brought in a fan, however, the window would barely open to allow outside cool air in. Hotel did discount room rate to where one would expect a Holiday Inn Express to be priced with a functioning Air Con.

Room Tip: Check other rates of properties locally. May be higher priced as close to LEGOLAND, but not that mu...

I discovered the Holiday Inn Express London - Heathrow T5 through American Airlines' hotel reservation system; this was just over a year ago. Had a nice stay then. Unfortunately, I can't say the same this time around. I do think this HIExpress is in a good location for those traveling to or from Heathrow. As someone who lives on the West Coast of the United States, usually my departing flights are fairly early in the morning -- by 9:00AM, which requires an arrival time at the airport of 6:00AM. Making the journey from central London itself the day of an international flight is stressful enough. This HIExpress, with convenient (every 1/2 hour) Hoppa Bus service to and from LHR, makes the journey far less stressful. I stayed the two nights before my departure back to the States. Although the location is good, and the décor of the hotel itself is welcoming (if a bit too ultra-modern), I had two problems on this trip. 1) Someone phoned my room at approximately 5:30AM one morning; that was the one day on my trip when I did not have to be awake by any certain hour. I was beyond furious that some idiot can't bother to check which room number he or she is dialing before doing so and waking people up out of a sound sleep who don't need to be awakened. Rude. Rude. Rude. 2) Several hours after checking in, I noticed that there was some kind of a brown stain on the navy blue coverlet on the bed. I was completely and totally grossed out. I still do not understand why this property doesn't seem to launder all of the linens prior to new guests arriving at the hotel. I would have liked to have given this hotel a higher review based on the convenience alone, but I cannot, in good conscience, do so. And, the next time I'm traveling through London, I will stay somewhere else as I negotiate my departures/arrives through Heathrow.

Room Tip: Parents seem to have no respect at all for others at this property. They let their children run scre...

Stayed here for one night as part of a Legoland two day package. Hotel is very clean and tidy and the staff extremely helpful and pleasant. We arrived at the same time as a coach load of 30+ Japanese tourists but still managed to be checked in in less that 15 mins.
During the early hours of the morning (4am) our 5yr old decided to take up projectile vomiting due to an unannounced stomach bug...... The night staff could not have done more for us, spare towels, bedding, plastic bags etc etc.
After a traumatic evening due to the above, breakfast (for me a least) was excellent. Again the staff were very helpful and a special mention has to go to Omar who was serving at the Costa coffee bar who has to rank as one of the most polite and pleasant hotel worker I've met.

If I'm ever down this way again I would hesitate to stay here again.

Well done Holiday Inn, your staff are a credit to you

We stayed at the hotel as it was recommended by one of my husband’s work colleagues as being of good value. Compared to some of the hotels we were looking at we agreed it looked nice and the price was right for our one night stay in London. We planned to go LegoLand and didn’t fancy getting up at 5am from where we live to make it for the park opening at 10am, so an overnight hotel stay made it easier. We were checked in quickly and then went to our room. It was a nice, clean, modern room and was much better quality than the last Holiday Inn we stayed at in Sheffield. We only used the room as a base for a shower and to sleep as we went into the City after checking in and didn’t return while late. The breakfast the next morning was good, with a choice of toast, cereals, eggs, beans and sausages. The Wifi was also free which was good. I can’t find many faults with the hotel only that in our room we found a receipt on the floor for train tickets from the previous guest that had stayed and the mattress was really soft. We also had to pay £10 per night to park our car which we thought was quite expensive when it only cost us £2 for a full days parking at the tube station. We would stay here again if we needed to.

At around 60 pounds a night B&B, this is good value for those flying in or out of Heathrow who are looking for good value basic accommodation with access to an airport bus.

This is a big mass market hotel so you can expect a typical international mass market clientele. Some of the resulting sights and smells are educational. However the hotel seems to cope rather well and certainly our room was clean and in good overall condition.

Rooms aren't big, but have a modern look and the bathroom was surprisingly good. TV and WiFi were good enough. The beds are unusually bouncy, which is a bit disconcerting at first. Didn't cause any sleep problems though and many may enjoy the experience.

The ground level bar/"restaurant" is functional at best. Just don't expect any real ales. The best bet for food is the "M&S Simply Food" located in the BP service station over the road. Far better quality and variety than at the hotel at lower cost.

I can't comment on the breakfast because of an early flight departure.

My critical better half decided she could live with this hotel next time around. Can't say better than that.
