“Good food but pricey”
Reviewed 23 November 2013

We first went to this restaurant in April 2005, a few days after it opened and visited regularly for a few years but then we felt the food went down hill so we stopped going. However a friend persuaded us to try it again. You can choose from 'all you can eat' for £18 for adults and £11 for very small children or if you ask, they will bring you the menu and you can choose just what you want. For 2 adults and 2 children the meal came to £145 which I thought was quite a lot as the children don't eat anything close to £11 of food normally. The quality of the food was good so we will return, but I think we'll choose off the menu instead. Service was quick. I'd advise booking a table as it can get busy. At one end of the restaurant there is a large fish tank, next to a table, good for distracting the kids whilst you're waiting for your meal, or if you don't have kids it's probably a pain as kids will be around your table looking at the fish!

“The food is fab”
Reviewed 22 November 2013 via mobile

We go to china garden when ever we can and since it opened it is a restaurant we go to a lot, we prefer eating in the restaurant instead of ordering a takeaway, it works out very expensive if you want some of the starter bits and pieces as well as your main but the portions are a good size. If you eat in it's a set price and it is eat as much as you can. You order what you would like and it is brought to your table for you to dish up, so it is all fresh and hot. The only negative really is the drinks can work out quite expensive depending on what you have and I feel the choice can be limited. On the weekends it can get busy so you may need to book. Apart from that I would recommend this chinese restaurant.

“Takeaway service not grt!”
Reviewed 22 September 2013

After moving to the area recently we wanted to know a good Chinese restaurant / takeaway.
After seeing reviews about china garden burnham high st it would seem pretty good.
However after waiting well over 1 hr for our food plus I had to call twice to see where our order is. When it came it would seem we were on the last delivery slot! Our order came to £21 which seemed quite pricey considering we only had 3 mains and 2 spring roll pancakes. Plus we had to reheat our food as it was cold on delivery which defeats the object of having it delivered.
We will give china gardens a go again but will eat at the restaurant next time!

“What a disappointment”
Reviewed 9 September 2013

So, what a disappointment our meal out on Saturday was. After having been to this restaurant many times we where really looking forward to a family meal out.

We arrived at 7, which we thought would be best as we had some young children with us, but after being there nearly 3 hours they left hungry. We opted to let the staff choose for us, but never again, after 45 minutes we where served a plate of deep fried food, another 20 minutes later the seaweed and soup finally came out. We ordered fhe duck at that finally came out after an hour and a half which was unedible, very fatty and cold. The children where getting bored by this stage and the adults hungry. We therefore ordered some steamed rice to keep the children happy which took another 30 minutes.

Overall we where there for nearly 3 hours, and was produced with a large bill which we disputed and have to say we will never go there again.

Last point, still waiting for the chilli sauce to arrive.

“An enjoyable relaxing evening”
Reviewed 16 August 2013

In Burnham High Street - what a lovely meal we had - all you can eat at a very reasonable price. Whilst each dish serving is small you can re-order as much as you want! Loads of variety. Was a delight to try new dishes - the food was tasty and well presented. The staff were all very friendly, did not rush to get us out the door even though they were busy, and checked everything was okay throughout the meal. I would recommend booking on weekends and for larger groups. A thoroughly enjoyable night - definitely will go back.
