“An elegant English seaside hotel”
Reviewed 13 July 2013 via mobile

The Kingswood and Devoran hotel can only be described as an elegant, English seaside hotel. The sea front setting, the well proportioned rooms and the traditional decor with just a hint of contemporary in places suggested quality as soon as we walked throughout the impressive glass entrance. We had a room with a balcony making the most of the hotels seafront position and space was plentiful other than in the standard sized shower cubicle in the recently renovated bathroom. The service in the hotel was excellent from well trained staff who clearly took a pride in their work. Food at the hotel was good and choices were plentiful. The only disappointment for us was that at the time of year we visited the clientele at the hotel gave it a feeling of old people's home with most of the guests other than us well into their seventies and eighties. Nevertheless a very nice place to stay.

We booked this as it was on the seafront & my husband had never stayed in a seafront hotel before! It was a real find. The staff were superb, the room great and even better - we had perfect weather. We stayed in room 306 at the top of the hotel. It was built into the eaves & you do need to be able to walk up stairs but we felt on top of the world. It had a large Velux window with a blackout blind over the bed and a window overlooking the sea in the sitting area. Although it wasn't the biggest room I've ever stayed in it was very well thought out & it was nice to have a sitting area with two tub chairs to watch the TV comfortably. Would recommend and return,

Room Tip: Pay a little extra for a sea view - it's worth it.

We decided not to stay at the hotel we had originally booked as we were very disappointed so were thrilled when we discovered this gem of a hotel. The staff (reception Jane especially) were so welcoming and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble. My room was tiny but I loved it! My mum's room was nice, next to the lift which was good for her. Lovely colour scheme! I thought parking might be a problem but although we used a nearby car park during the day we managed to park right outside later that evening. I would come again.

We only had a couple of nights here and found the room No.101 - with a sea view and a balcony - was adequate, clean and comfortable. The balcony was very tiny - just enough room for 2 - and it needed a good brush down to remove all the cobwebs.
The food was excellent and the staff were very kind and helpful. The main drawback is the parking. Although they have their own car park, the parking space which we were allotted was against a brick wall and VERY difficult to negotiate. Because we were not there for long we did not need to move the car.

The staff at this hotel really are exceptional. Nothing is too much trouble for them. The rooms are comfortable and clean. The bathroom had clearly been recently updated. The food is what you might expect from a 4 star hotel. It offers really good value for money.

Room Tip: We chose a room with a sea view, definitely worth asking for.

For 3 years in a row I have brought my (now) 99 year-old mother and my sister (who is suffering from Alzheimer's) to this hotel for a holiday. As well as the glorious position and excellent food, the hotel staff are exceptionally kind and helpful. It is the staff above all who make such an expedition possible, and keep bringing us back.
Keep up the good work!

Room Tip: Pick a front troom if you think the noise of the seagulls will bother you

We stayed here for 2 nights last week (April 2013) - the hotel was spotless, the beds were comfortable, the food lovely, and staff were friendly and couldn't do enough to make our stay happy. We had a 90 and 91 year old in tow and they too enjoyed their stay. The hotel is centrally positioned and there's lift access to bedrooms (great for elderly guests). Wheelchairs were available to hire too. The receptionist Aimee was really helpful with local knowledge and the chef must be congratulated for such lovely meals (nice varied menu). If you stay here definately go for dinner bed and breakfast. In short this was a hotel I really couldn't fault (and I'm a fussy customer!)

Room Tip: Rear rooms were really quiet - but to be honest I would think sea view rooms would be equally quiet...
