We have stayed here many times usually over one of the May bank holidays, taking advantage of offers four nights for the price of three. Again excellent food, staff very helpful. Very nice room with sea views and balcony not that we used much this time due to the rain. Visited Forde Abbey house and gardens near Chard about 45 minutes by car well worth a visit.

Room Tip: Book a car space in advance

This sweet hotel right on the seafront has such welcoming and kind service that we left with a warm glow. Over our 2 night stay I witnessed extreme helpfulness in all the staff, and was touched to see Alan going out of his way to gently help some of the elderly guests, of which there were many. With my 87 year old mother we were hardly out of place, and she was over the moon with her room, no 28, which was sunny and where she could sit overlooking both the shops and the seafront. The dinner was excellent and portions just right and a nice touch is complimentary morning coffee, and afternoon tea with little cakes. If I have to find something to improve, I'd suggest they offfer one or two better wines (the sauvignon blanc at £18.50 was the most expensive white on the menu but not particularly good), and change the flowers on the tables more frequently as dead bluebells are not conducive to appetite. The hotel has the cutest little old lift which only holds two people and a small bag, but worked very well. I have no idea why this small hotel is ranked 11 out of 12 on tripadvisor, yet has a 93% recommendation rate. It's owned by the same people as the no 1 ranked Kingswood and Deveron, next door. I would happily return, but if you are under 70 you may wish to find somewhere trendier. It's a very good 3 star hotel and I would normally rank it a good 4, or 4.5 if I could. However I give it 5 due to the superb service from the lovely staff.

Room Tip: If you can't get a sea view, room 28 is a lovely room with a huge window and a side seaview. N...

Thank you for the review and we are pleased you enjoyed your stay. We are all open and welcoming to all!

We always have alternative wines in our sister businesses next door so we could always rustle up an alternative if you so wish!

Glad our staff looked after you so well!

I stayed here for two nights as part of a field trip for work. As far as i'm concerned, this hotel ticked all the right boxes. Clean and bright rooms, friendly and helpful staff and perfect location; right on the seafront. Quite simply, i cannot fault it. I'd happily stay there again.

We have just returned from a four day break at this seafront hotel. I think we were very much in the minority as most of the guests return for several visits each year. This was our first stay at the Hotel Elizabeth. We arrived in glorious sunshine. Parking is a bit on the "tight" side but a member of staff escorted us to our allocated parking space. He then took the cases up to the room. We were in room 30 on the 3rd floor, with a Juliette balcony, overlooking the Esplanade and the sea. Our room was spotlessly clean and quiet. Quietness is important to us because we live in a rural area with no night time noise, so staying in hotels can sometimes be very noisy. This was one of the best from that point of view. The dining room staff were polite and extremely efficient. Food arrived quickly, it was well cooked and there was plenty of choice. Hot food was always served on piping hot plates. We enjoyed all our breakfasts and evening meals. In addition coffee and biscuits were served in the lounge mid morning and afternoon tea and cakes at 4 pm. We certainly did not go hungry.
The guests at the Elizabeth are in the main, fairly elderly. We are both in our 70s and we actually felt like the youngsters compared to our companions. There were a few slightly younger people stay at the hotel, but I don't really think this would be the venue for young families. Just a personal opinion!
To sum up, we enjoyed our stay. The weather was awful, but we were quite cosy in the Elizabeth. We would recommend this hotel for its location, cleanliness and friendly, helpful staff.

The staff here are very friendly and attentive. The rooms are light and airy, with big picture windows overlooking the sea. It's clean and tidy, with comfortable public areas and good food. The clientele are mainly quite old, so it's fairly quiet, but it's an old Victorian building with thick walls, so the rooms are very private. There's free wifi, but it doesn't reach all the rooms. On the whole, though, very good value for the money.

We've just spent another marvelous 4 night break in this delightful hotel. We somehow find ourselves coming here about twice a year and it just seems to get better. The addition of Sophies smiling face and professional and friendly demeanour made the stay that extra special, with thanks also to Signe, Clare and Sheena & of course Allan! Catering overall has improved and choice, variety and portions are spot on. If you want something just ask.

The sea view rooms are excellent and a welcomed gesture is the gratius bottle of water. Excellent value and the reason we return so regularly - even though we have never seen other guests younger than ourselves - it suits us perfectly. The hotel can be on the warm side so take some lighter clothing! See you all again in 4-5 months!

Room Tip: Higher floors are quieter, sea views are worth the extra
