Description: The Clock Tower cafe & restaurant stands in an unrivalled position within the award winning Connaught Gardens, Sidmouth on the stunning Jurassic south coast of East Devon. 27 years on from humble beginnings the Clock Tower has remained a family-owned business, we are very proud of our excellent reputation for quality service and delicious, freshly prepared food.

This cafe/restaurant is so iconic to Sidmouth and is in the most beautiful location. We frequent it regularly and mostly find it to be a friendly, cosy atmosphere. However, our criticism recently is as follows: on Sunday 15 December - a typically rainy and wintry afternoon, we were longing for a pot of tea and some delicious Clock Tower cakes. It was exactly 4pm and we had raced across country from Killerton to get to the cafe in time. Clock Tower is meant to stay open till 5pm, however the place was in semi-darkness and the 2 members of staff on duty were in the throes of packing up. As soon as we entered the cafe, they told us that they were closed because it had been 'too quiet'. We and another couple were therefore turned away and were most disappointed. I told the lady in charge that on days like this - cold and rainy - even if they were quiet, it was when you most wanted a hot drink and food.

A winter but sunny lovely weekend saw us return after many years to these great gardens and tea rooms. Simply great location and refreshments. Super in summer but so busy just a lazy December visit but so nice!

An unscheduled but very welcome afternoon in Sidmouth on a chilly November day ... But warmed up by a lovely bowl of Onion soup for lunch and then after a stroll around the seafront and the lovely shops we finished off with a slice (huge) of wonderful cake and a cup of tea ...

We had lunch here with friends who live in Sidmouth. The food was very good and if you get a table upstairs you have a nice view of the cliffs and beach.

No trip to Sidmouth is complete without a visit here. Walk around the cliff and up the steps and arrive in the always sunny garden. I remember when this was a derelict folly and it is now the best place for light eats in Sidmouth. Really well done.
