Not quite as good a selection of evening meal food as in the past. Some evidence of cost cutting with the paper thin meat portions.
Very friendly bad helpful staff with some staying for three or more years and given decent time off per week. It rather speaks well of the hotel management treating the staff properly.

Room Tip: Offer price rooms limited size, even sea view rooms. No room safes or shaving mirrors. Staff though...

You cannot fault anything, food is excellent, staff kind and friendly but very professional.
Sidmouth is lovely, promenade walks and sea views.
It's a very relaxing place to be .

I'm writing this review the day before I check out. Quite frankly, the best hotel I've stayed in. Perfect location, a stones throw from the sea front at Sidmouth and the other attractions of the town. Superb, friendly service and great food. Wonderful old world charm all around and clean, well appointed rooms. An example stands out - our housekeeper not only immacutely prepared the room but searched a lost toy and placed it (our 1 year old had hidden this below the bed) in the baby cot - brilliant. Will be back for more....

Thank you for taking the time to write your recent review for The Victoria Hotel. We were so pleased to read that you and your family had a wonderful time staying with us for the Easter Period. We always feel how nice it is to have children staying at this time of year as they make it especially enjoyable for everyone.

Our staff, including your housekeeper, were particularly delighted to read that you appreciated their friendly service, the hotel’s ‘old world charm’ and your accommodation. We are also happy to hear that you enjoyed Sidmouth’s wonderful location and esplanade.

Thank you again for taking the time to write your review, and we look forward to welcoming yourself, together with your family, back to The Victoria Hotel in the near future.

A wonderful hotel where traditional service and values meld with modern rooms and tastes. Whilst one can indulge in the music, atmosphere and food in the restaurant with the five course dinner, it isn't essential as items from the menu are available as bar meals in the elegant and superbly serviced bar and sun lounge.

This hotel has a great deal of Edwardian character and has very comfortable rooms, excellent service and good food in the restaurant. It's a very good place to go for a special occasion or just to get away from it all. It was very noticeable that a lot of the guests seemed to be booking their next visit as they checked out.

Room Tip: One room had a stunning sea view- but I was also happy with the view over the glen
