“Position,Facilities and Service”
Reviewed 7 June 2014

We have holidayed at this Hotel on numerous occasions both as a couple and as a family group including our grand children. The facilities have suited all ages and the staff have been always attentive to the needs of the different generations.
The position is ideal with great views of the coastline from the Sun Lounge and from many of the bedrooms. The town centre is just a short walk along the seafront while in the opposite direction the Connaught Gardens provide a pleasant vista in addition to the regular Brass Band Concerts.
We have just returned from a week's holiday and again enjoyed excellent accommodation, good food and excellent service.
I had the misfortune of suffering a fall in the town and on returning to the Hotel with a nasty injury to my arm was expertly attended to by their First Aider and sent to the A& E Department at Exeter Hosital. An illustration of the level of service delivered by the staff at this Hotel.
Altogether my wife and I would recommend this Hotel, both for the facilities and level of Service and for the many attractions of the surrounding area.

Thank you for taking the time to write your positive review for the Victoria Hotel, after your recent stay with us.

We always find it such a pleasure to welcome returning guests like yourselves, and it was wonderful to read that we have also been able to welcome your family, including your grandchildren. The staff are always working hard maintaining the wonderful leisure facilities we have with an eye to being able to keep everyone entertained!

We were so pleased to read that you found everything to be excellent during your stay including your accommodation and service, and that you find our position in Sidmouth with the outstanding views of Lyme Bay to be ideal.

Of all your welcoming comments though, those praising our staff members, particularly our first aider were very pleasurable to read, and have been passed on for all to see. The staff never find anything too much trouble and are always happy to help in any way they can.

Thank you again for your most wonderful review for The Victoria. We all hope that your arm is healing well, and look forward to welcoming yourselves and your family back for future visits soon.

At last, a British hotel that knows what good service actually is! We had a couple of days break at the Victoria and enjoyed every single minute. The quality of meals was as good as it gets, the bedroom and ensuite were recently refurbished to a high standard and the public rooms were excellent. However the hotels star point is the staff! Abundant and well trained. Nothing was too much trouble and without exception the staff actually looked as if they enjoyed their job. The cleaner I spoke to said she had been there 26 years and still loved her job. Well done all at the Victoria!

Thank you so much for your glowing review for the Victoria Hotel after your stay with us earlier this month.

It was such a joy to read that you thoroughly enjoyed your short break with us and found everything, including your accommodation, the public rooms, and your dining experience in our Jubilee Restaurant to be of a high standard.

We were especially pleased to be able to pass on all your kind comments to our hard working and loyal staff members with regards to the service they provided for you. They never find it too much trouble to aid our guests in any way they can. The staff across all the departments appreciated your comments very much.

Thank you again for taking the time to write such a wonderful review for us at The Victoria and we all look forward to welcoming you back in the future.

Having been a fan of Brend hotels for many years this was nonetheless our first visit to the Victoria .
What can I say ,..the usual exemplary standards we have come to expect of the Brend group .
Gourmet food . Excellent service , professional & courteous staff. Plentiful facilities .
This is a real family hotel for plenty to do for all. It retains all of its traditional Victorian charm whilst having a very up to date approach.
Nice room albeit a partial sea view , fabulous outdoor pool & I could go on & on .Sidmouth itself is a true gem .
We would have liked to have booked for Xmas but they were fully booked with a large waiting list. How disappointing but no surprise !!!
We will return however as soon as possible.

We have not long left the hotel after a stay as a family of four. The location of the premises is fantastic and the staff are all without exception very friendly and polite.
The roms we had appeared to have not long been refurbished so , whilst not very large we're pleasant enough and well appointed with some fine views too.
We ate often at the restaurant and on the whole it was adequate but nothing exceptional and at times really quite bland which given the cost was a bit of a let down.
There is a lovely little putting green at the front and two pools of which the outdoor one is pretty good. What lets it a down a little is the poolside 'bar/ games area ' which stank of damp and really needs a decision as to what is intended for it as it seemed to be part bar / games and storage.
All in all a very pleasant stay was had by all but we probably won't return for a while to come.

Room Tip: Check to see of your room is refurbished as not all have been !

Thank you for your review for The Victoria after your family’s recent stay with us.

We were so pleased to read that a very pleasant stay was had by all and that you found your accommodation to be of a nice standard with some lovely views.

We were also happy to read that you were able to enjoy the use of some of the many leisure facilities that the Hotel has to offer, but sorry that your dining experience in our Jubilee Restaurant didn’t quite meet up to your full expectations.

Please accept our apologies with regards to the problem you encountered by the Pavilion Bar area. This has now been rectified and we thank you for bringing it to our attention.

Your kind comment with regards to the service you received from our staff has been passed on. They always find it very rewarding to read them.

Thank you again for taking the time to write your review for the Victoria, and we hope to be able to welcome your family back in the not too distant future.

My family have enjoyed short breaks at this traditional seaside hotel for ten years. Beautiful oak panelling, a longcase clock and a huge oak fireplace dominate the ground floor lounge area which has stunning sea views. Staff are friendly and courteous and the hotel is spotlessly clean. The Jubilee Restaurant promotes formal dining (jacket & tie required) with excellent food and service.
I must also complement the hotel gardeners who work hard to keep the lawns and flower beds looking so attractive all year round. In all a genteel hotel with a traditional atmosphere where good old fashioned values are thankfully maintained.

Thank you for your most positive review for the Victoria Hotel after your family’s recent stay with us.

It is always such a pleasure to welcome family’s back each year, and we were delighted to welcome yours for your tenth visit, no less!

It was wonderful to read that you have found the Hotel has maintained its traditional atmosphere, along with its beautiful furnishings, and that you have been able to enjoy the lovely views of Lyme Bay from our Lounges.

We were also pleased that you have enjoyed your dining experience in our Jubilee Restaurant and that our request for gentleman to wear a Jacket and Tie is a welcome one.

All your comments about our hard working staff members service has been passed on. These were very much appreciated, particularly by our wonderful Gardening Team.

Thank you again for taking the time to write your review for the Victoria, and we look forward to welcoming your family back next year.

4 generations of the family stayed here in March for a100th birthday celebration. The staff were fantastic- couldn't be more helpful and flexible (especially with a 100yr old and a 6mth old to keep happy!). A subset of us stay in the Victoria suite which I would highly recommend, especially for those with young children as it has a small kitchen area. All the accommodation exceeded our expectations- modern, comfortable and clean. A great weekend. Thanks to all at the Victoria!

Room Tip: The Victoria suite was beautiful

It was also good to read that you would highly recommend the Victoria Suite and the other accommodation that your family stayed in, as you found them all to be clean, comfortable and modern.

Thank you again for your most wonderful review and we all look forward to welcoming your family back to The Victoria in the future.

Just a wonderful relaxing break from the warm greeting from Cliff continuing through the whole week.

All staff friendly, helpful and kind.

The hotel as usual is worthy of the five stars we give them.
The Victoria Suite is just fantastic.

It is not broken. Please do not try to fix

Room Tip: If your partner snores. Try the Victoria Suite. Your own air conditioned bedroom. Wonderful.
