We visited the restaurant twice as it was one on the few open in Sidmouth. Very much a pub type setting virtually next to the bar.
Service was good and at a reasonable pace with good space between tables although one particular table blocked the toilet designated for disabled and baby changing. Waiters were pleasant without being too much "in your face". Food was average and well presented with portions just about right for the average eater. However they blotted their copy book with the underhand charging.
I suffer from whats called "dry mouth" due to a lack of saliva following some major medical problems. I asked for a little gravy to help with this and they said they could only give me anything if Chef had something from the meals on the menu. I appreciated that and they gave me a small serving of a red wine sauce (which did not really go with the meal). They didn't mention any cost so I was gobsmacked when they charged £2.75 for this. Not a lot but its the principle that counts so their tip went out of the window as did their chances of any repeat business which for three people over 1 week could have come to a reasonable sum
