This is property is relatively cheap and has off-road parking and the location , while not in Sidmouth proper is quiet with access to Sidmouth town and the sea via the Byes; a pleasant walk. Those are the main plus points.
Negatives are that you have to collect the keys (and return them) to the agency in Beer. Not ideal if like us you had a 6 hour journey. The house was not cleaned properly. I am pretty sure it says 'no pets' (we usually check) and yet the door mats smelt of dog and there was a dog bowl in one of the cupboards. The carpets were not clean, there were hairs on the bath (nice) and all the kitchen cupboard door handles were sticky when you opened them. Not what you expect really. If the agency use contract cleaners then they either turn up and leave in one motion or else sit and watch TV until they think enough 'cleaning time' has elasped. The proprtty has 3 bedrooms but it would be much more practical as a 2 bed with a bigger bathroom (one with a blind to protect people's modesty). Trying to change a baby's nappy in the current bathroom is far from ideal and all the bedrooms are choc full of furniture and beds. In the 'main' bedroom that has the double bed you cannot even open one wardrobe door because of the bed - this is just silly. There are tacky and old fashioned pictures, unecessary lamps and ornaments galore in the living room. When will people learn that less is more? The kicthen has a dishwasher, which is a bonus, though it is the oldest one I have ever seen and did not get cutlery clean always. The kitchen floor was sticky and dirty. The garden is a good size for small children but the owners have allowed stinging nettles to grow up, which isn't ideal.
To be blunt, this felt like a property in which the elderly parent had passed away and the grown up children had left pretty much as is and rented out. It hasn't been decorated or decluttered in a long while or properly cleaned in ages (we found a chess and adrafts piece under the settee; at least we cleaned!). While cheap(er) this does not excuse the general condition and contents of the house. We appreciated the dishwasher (they might weant to update it), driveway, garden and location but overall I don't feel we could fully recommened it. More puictures of the property (not random scenery) would help inform prospective buyers if this is for them.
