“Theatre visit and quiet rest.”
Reviewed 19 May 2014

Have stayed in Sidmouth before, this was the first time at Woodlands. The main reason was for a visit to the local theatre and this hotel is situated in a perfect spot, no more than a hundred yards from our goal. Megan and Dan who run the hotel could not be more accommodating, the rooms are clean and bright, ours on the ground floor was compact, but had everything you would need, comfy bed, shower (no bath, that's ok). More room needed? open the doors and walk out onto the patio. Really quiet area to read or just enjoy the weather. We had one meal at the hotel, fresh food, cooked well and served with a smile. Breakfast every morning, very good choice and should be variety enough for anyone.
This is a good hotel just to get away and relax, both Dan and Megan do all they can to make your stay a pleasure, helped by Chips and the rest of the family. Chips being a very nice chocolate lab.
With all the work that has been going on and effort put in to refurbish the establishment, we can only wish Dan and Megan all the best for the future, and look forward to a return visit to see the end result.

Just returned from excellent weekend away with a group of friends staying at the Woodlands Hotel Sidmouth in the lovely County of Devon. Hotel was booked by our organiser as it is near to the beach and town centre and rates seemed very reasonable. Hotel far exceeded expectations, rooms were immaculate and bathrooms very recently refurbished also spotless. Food, general ambience, friendliness and attentive treatment from all staff, especially Dan and his wife were really really good and we all instantly felt at home. Dan and wife are fairly new owners but obviously know how to look after people and I wish them all the best and can thoroughly recommend the Woodlands.

Room Tip: 10 off us in our group, all impressed with rooms especially those who plumped for single occupancy b...

Just spent several nights at The Woodlands. Dan and Megan made us feel very welcome. Hotel just 5 mins walk into town or to sea front. Rooms nicely presented with quality bedding. Food was good. Going to return with our mountain bikes next time as Dan has a secure shed that we can store them in. A trip to the moors with them will be in order!! I highly recommend the Woodlands Hotel and will be looking forward to seeing how the garden has progressed when we return. Say hello to the little ladies in the garden for me.

A group of 10 of us went to the Woodlands for the weekend. From the moment we arrived to the moment we left nothing was too much trouble from Dan and Megan to help us enjoy our stay. The rooms are quirky and look to have been recently updated as with the rest of the hotel.
The food was excellent, relatively simple food, freshly cooked with care and tasting wonderful.
The garden is still work in progress and by the end of summer will look wonderful I'm sure.
I wish them every success which they deserve as they come up to their first anniversary at the hotel.

Perfectly situated in the town, just away from it enough but still within walking distance to everything, rooms were finished to a very high standard, nice comfortable bed, but the staff really made the trip for us, couldn't have made us more welcome. Highly recommended, will definitely go back when I get a chance. Thanks guys

I recently spent a night at the Woodlands Hotel and I was pleasantly surprised. Dan and Megan haven't had this hotel for very long but have put a lot of time, effort and money into making it a great place to stay. I was lucky enough to hear the jazz talents of Pete Allen whilst I was there and this made the day perfect. Dan and Megan work tirelessly to make everything perfect and I believe they are doing a great job. I would like to wish them every success in the future because they deserve it.

We had a really great time at this hotel over the Easter break. Travelling with two children in tow we stayed in the suite which was perfectly set up for a family of four. Owners Megan and Dan couldn't have been more welcoming and are obviously working really hard to reclaim this amazing old building and bring it back to life. Mealtimes were relaxed and the food lovely - including amazing home-made cakes. The children especially enjoyed visiting the chickens to get eggs for breakfast! The hotel is well located - only five mins walk to the sea-front - but happily set apart from the noisy throng of the town centre.
