Hotel in a fabulous location for Sidmouth and the beach. Greeted by a young lady who wasn't the most friendly person, on check in. Room 3 was lovely with beautiful views but room 2 was dated with decor in need of an upgrade. Our stay included an evening meal. We enjoyed most of the selection except the last evening. My asparagus with hollandaise sauce was luke warm with a skin formed on the sauce, obviously it had been standing in the kitchen for a while. For dessert I asked for apple crumble with Icecream and not the vanilla sauce. The waiter (dark haired man with glasses, who by far was the worst staff member I came into contact with. Rude and unhelpful whenever he served us) bought back apple pie with hot vanilla sauce and a dollop of Icecream on top! But as I said before he was useless. The restaurant manager, who was very good, apologised and made sure my dessert was replaced. Check out was with melinda, who was a lot nicer to deal with. Breakfast, food fine but the table we were allocated was by the window, heating was on, and because of the sun we perspisered throughout. Asking that waiter to open a window was like asking for a miracle. He stood there for ages thinking if he should or not. I did put my foot down and said open the window or move us, but...Hotel in a fabulous location for Sidmouth and the beach. Greeted by a young lady who wasn't the most friendly person, on check in. I did put my foot down and said open the window or move us, but to his horror he couldn't move us as he would have to reset another table! The window was opened. Would I stay here again, yes, but it's a shame these small problems (mainly the waiter) couldnt be ironed out, then this hotel would be a joy to stay at.More
