Great location at the end of the seafront in Sidmouth.

Very attractive and comfy lounges downstairs (definitely "traditional" rather than contemporary, but that's no bad thing as far as I'm concerned).

Sea-view terrace (and outdoor pool) which would be nice in the summer.

Room was compact (but I didn't pay very much), with a decent shower.

Excellent breakfast, with friendly and efficient service.

We spent one night here en route to Devon. The hotel was very pleasant and out room was clean, tidy, well decorated and comfortable but the bathroom was very dated - straight out of the 1960s, complete with plastic wall cabinet! And the bin had not been emptied from the previous guests.
The hotel was very warm - too warm really. The reception staff were polite but not particularly friendly.
The restaurant staff were very attentive and friendly and the food was delicious with a good menu.
I would return here but I think a bit of up dating wouldn't go amiss.

I stayed for 4 nights with my Mum and The Stevenage Probus Club and had a fantastic time. The Staff are very helpful and friendly, the food is excellent and plenty of it. The rooms are comfortable and will hopefully go back when the new wing is open to see if they match up to the standard of the hotel.

Room Tip: Ask for one with a sea view and balcony, most have but several have not.

Although our room was exceptionally warm and the windows didn't really allow for any extra air, we still loved our stay. The room was very large and well appointed. We loved the location of the hotel, close to town but felt secluded up on it's own hill. Wifi signal was only good in the common areas. Breakfast was very well done but a little slow on the service, but with the view from the dining room, it was easy to forgive.

We have had four visits - the first three of which were extremely enjoyable, with good food and despite some areas being 'tired and shabby', memorable. We always looked forward to returning.

Not so this time. 'Tired' has become scruffy. The meals were far below the usual standard, with limited choice and poorer quality ingredients.

The staff, as ever, were excellent and seem to be battling against the odds.

We will not be returning.

Since my last visit five years ago, it has had a much needed makeover and my room was light and airy in fresh pastel colours with a wonderful view out to sea from the balcony. A top notch shower with steaming water and fluffy towels completes the room. The full English breakfast really set me up for the day and the varied and delicious dinner menu is a steal at £30 for four courses. The staff could not be more helpful and the only, minor, complaint is that I found the bedroom too hot, even without the heating on. A fab relaxing spring break that dissolved my stress and chilled me out.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the front overlooking the sea - rooms 3 and 6 have balconies and great views

Visited the restaurant for Sunday Lunch to celebrate a neighbours birthday only because our usual haunt was fully booked. As a born and bred local can I first of all say that it is an absolute nonsense to rename the Hotel "The Sidmouth Harbour".Sidmouth does not have a harbour! . I know the reason but everyone knows "The Westcliffe" which had a good reputation under the same ownership for many years.
However our meal was absolutely first class with the set menu offering a choice of roasts, starters and sweets.Quality and presentation were first class with a live pianist providing an excellent background to an almost full and buzzing clientele of largely senior citizens. The staff were excellent and we enjoyed the more formal atmosphere in an unrushed service.Victor the head waiter is a credit to both the hotel and Romania his country of origen. The only slight disappointment was the absence of a real ale at the bar.
Our first visit for two years since the change of ownership but we will go again.

I cannot comment on the accommodation, etc but there is a large extension in course and it would be a shame if management froze out the locals from what on our experience is a very pleasant venue for a leisurely (Sunday) Lunch.

Room Tip: You must have a sea view or there is no point coming!.
