We have just returned from a one night stay at the Belmont Hotel. We booked a weekend away at the very last minute and were not disappointed with our choice of hotel. Our room was lovely, sea view with a balcony, also overlooking the cricket ground. Yes it does also overlook the car park (Room 207) but this didn't distract from the beautiful views all around. The weather was glorious, too hot even, so we spent one afternoon at the Victoria Hotel next door where you have the use of their swimming pools. We didn't have dinner at the hotel, we preferred to eat in Sidmouth which is just a few minutes walk along the promenade. Though we enjoyed drinks and nibbles on the terrace beforehand. We are middle aged but felt quite young - and looked young! compared to most of the other guests. Breakfast was the only meal we had and I was slightly disappointed. I do prefer a buffet as I like to take what I want. I ordered porridge which was cold and scrambled egg which I couldn't eat, also cold and tasted odd. Having said that my husband enjoyed his breakfast and said it was excellent, so perhaps I was just unlucky. It didn't bother me too much and looking round everyone seemed to be enjoying their food. The service was impeccable and the staff are all lovely, friendly and very helpful. All in all a beautiful hotel in an excellent position on the seafront near the town.

Room Tip: Worth paying more for a sea view.

After the slightest of service blips on last stay I am delighted to say that its normal excellence, for me, is restored.

Booked the evening before, room ready to check in at 9am next morning, terrace, bar and restaurant service personal and effective, Outdoor pool at sister hotel next door perfect in this weather

Thank you

Room Tip: This time had room 2 which is ideal for ground floor with French Doors. Next Door is a single if tra...

Having had a terrible hotel experience in Exmouth the night before...we were determined to push the boat out and have a lovely hotel for our last night. We were not disappointed.
The Belmont is a fabulous, traditional hotel, the like of which is getting rarer and rarer to find. We had stayed for one night at The Imperial in Barnstaple last year and The Belmont was every bit as good.
The staff are amazing and the room was spotless and comfortable, with lots of extra touches. We didn't have dinner as we were meeting friends, but we'll definitely come back and ave the whole experience.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Room Tip: 215 had a balcony and a lovely view across the beach

Its the second time we've had Sunday lunch in the restaurant & if anything probably enjoyed it even more this time.

Very traditional silver service with a piano playing, very elegant & genteel.

The food was delicious & very well priced, efficient & friendly service.

Very pleasant sitting in the lounge for after lunch coffee looking out to lawns & the sea.

We were shown to a small room (with a sea view) but in need of refurbishing so we asked for an alternative. No trouble, so we were moved to room 107. The view of the sea is not great, mainly overlooking the car park so not worth the extra cost. This is a traditional seaside hotel where jacket & tie are requested for dinner. The food is excellent - hot and well served. We had a pianist playing which is a pleasant rarity these days. Staff are always wanting to please and are well led by the General Manager Timothy Beauchamp who kindly showed us a variety of rooms after we had checked out, for us to select one suitable for our next visit because we shall certainly be returning here.

Room Tip: Depends what you want. We prefer space, comfort and all the little extras rather than a mediocre vie...

Had a great 3 days at this Hotel for parents anniversary. They had room 115, a superior room with balcony and a great view. Breakfast was served at the table (No buffet) which made a great change and the quality was excellent.
Service in the hotel was 1st class and the dinner at night was delicious.
The hotel is a tad expensive but for the service and surroundings you expect to pay extra.
An excellent hotel for shall we say the more mature person, I am 52 and was probably the youngest there for 2 of the 3 nights. There was a harpist playing in the bar one night and a pianist in the dining room another. Very sophisticated.
A good sized car park out front and no problems with space whilst we were there.
The hotel is very well maintained and spotless. The turn down service with chocolate was a nice touch too.
I will be returning to this hotel and Sidmouth is very relaxing.

Room Tip: Room 115 has front facing good size balcony with excellent views.

We managed to get a four night break at the Belmont following the cancellation of our cruise on the Danube following the bad floods. We have previously stayed at The Imperial in Barnstaple (twice) and did wonder whether or not we would have the same great experience at The Belmont. We need not have been cocnerned, it was wonderful. The food is wonderful, beautifully presented and cooked. The staff are unobtrusive yet very friendly and helpful. If you want the "Hello my name is Tracey and I am your server tonight" You will not get that at the Belmont. You will get quality service with a warm and welcoming atmosphere. We were always greeted with a smile byall staff and when we had a probelm with the key card for our room not working, everyone worked fast to solve the problem, the Area Manager even came down to offer his assistance and in the end everything was sorted out. I cannot think of many hotels where you would receive that level of service at 6.00 on a Saturday night. I could go on praising this hotel but that is pointless as so many other reviewers have echoed my thouhts. We will certianly return to the Belmont and all I can say is .... Brend Hotels you have got everything right, you do what you do very well indeed!
