“Seems to Get Even Better!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 October 2013

Our third visit to The Belmont in just over a year and it seems to get better and better.

The food, the service and the standard of décor, fittings and furnishings were all faultless and, again unfortunately despite some indifferent weather, we thoroughly enjoyed our four night stay. We did have a couple of nice days though so it was particularly nice to have a sea view and balcony in Room 207 to see it at its best.

All the staff are superb and perform their duties with a degree of efficiency and friendliness in just the right proportion and to a degree which I have rarely found elsewhere. Particular thanks to Daniel, our cheerful Spanish waiter, who looked after us so well.

We were surprised to find a seaside hotel quite so full towards the end of October but the fact that it was, shows just how popular it is and that highlighted our only slight criticism. The layout of the car park is not ideal with some quite cramped spaces and on more than one occasion, we returned to find it almost full. But that won't put us off and we are already looking forward to visit number four.

We returned a week ago from a superb holiday spent at this hotel. The room was of a high standard, but the food and service in the dining room was excellent. The staff were very friendly, and nothing was too much trouble for them, especially Adam. We just found the whole experience very relaxing, I was even treated to a massage at the Victoria Hotel next door. This was our first visit, but we will definitely return.

My husband and I have recently returned from a five days stay at this hotel. The food, service and excellent attention to detail was very much appreciated. So much so that I have telephoned the hotel manager to say how pleased we were with everything. This is an older generation hotel but is this such a bad thing when it compensates for such good service. It just goes to show that good old fashioned service is very much alive and kicking and very much appreciated.

Having a choice of hotels,The Belmont was chosen,we had not used the hotel for a few years. On our arrival,we were given a wonderful reception, rooms were ready,as we expected very clean, and to a very high standard. All the meals we had were of the highest quality, and plentiful, and the staff are attentive, friendly and well trained. Stayed here for 4 nights from September 1st., on a Bed & Breakfast tariff. My (91 yr old) mother and I shared a twin-bedded room (207) with a balcony and wonderful sea views. The room was great and despite hard pillows (should have asked for replacements) very comfortable and well kept. Breakfast was good, fast and pleasant service. We did not eat in the dining room for dinner as we thought it to be over-priced for our needs. A bar/lounge meal on the first evening proved disappointing and mentioned it on checkout, the cost was immediately removed from our bill. Parking was our 'entertainment' when in the room relaxing. We were fortunate to secure a parking spot by the Reception area but watched as many guests or visitors tried to park in what I counted as only a total of 40 spaces (could be wrong)!
Overall an extremely pleasant experience and would certainly stay there again and recommend the hotel to friends if they like the old way of providing service and comfort.

We have used Brend hotels for many years, and decided to try the Belmont for a short break, and were not disappointed.

The room was comfortable, clean and had a balcony with pleasant views over the cricket ground. The restaurant food for both dinner and breakfast was of a high standard, with ample choice and beautifully presented. The waiting staff were top class, carrying out their duties in a really prompt and professional manner. They also, like all the other staff we encountered, were very courteous and friendly with every request met with a positive reponse.
Overall a most pleasant experience, and we would definitely return in the future.

The Belmont Hotel provides the level of service which leaves you totally relaxed and refreshed. Service is prompt and professional amidst well maintained and well furnished accommodation. Parking is ample and convenient with ready help with luggage from the concierge service if required.

The location of the hotel is superb, with excellent sea views across an uncluttered promenade, close to lovely gardens at the quiet end of the town. The town itself is thriving; a rareity for an English sea-side resort. You can even watch the cricket match at the adjoining Sidmouth cricket club grounds from the terrace, helpfully protected from those occasional 6's by a mesh net.

The price for dinner bed and breakfast is what you would expect for the location and level of service. The bar and restaurant service is emaculate with silver service at dinner and an opportunity for the male guest to wear that tie and jacket that you always pack. The menu is elegant and the food is of good quality.

With very pleasant and helpful staff - what else could you ask for - other than good weather, which we had! We will certainly return for another "escape" from the cut and thrust of daily life.

Room Tip: A room at the front of the hotel with a balcony is ideal, which will give you great sea views and th...
