We have holidayed for years around Sidmouth and this is the first time of staying in a hotel there. We had a very comfortable and enjoyable stay on the 1st and 2nd of March (my birthday).
The staff were very friendly and helpfull, serving our afternoon tea in the room so we did not have to leave our dog alone, dogs are allowed but, not in the public rooms.
They also provided gluten free scones for our daughter, and also advised which dishes on the menu were gluten free, most of which were gluten free.
We also made use of the spa, this was very good value at £7.50 PP/90mins, sauna/steamroom and hydro pool (bubbles and jets).
Right on the sea front and in the centre of the town. It is an older building, which some people may not like but, I thought it gives it character.
Highly recommended

Room Tip: Get a room with a sea view

The staff were very friendly and accommodating and nothing was too much trouble for them especially as we were a large group of 19. The rooms were very clean and comfortable as was the rest of the hotel and the facilities. The hotel deserves a higher rating than 2 star. The food was excellent and the menu well varied. Great smaller lounges for guests creating a feeling of space especially if you are in a large goup. Fantastic location right on the sea front and very accessible to shops/town etc.

Room Tip: Sea facing rooms are a bonus those with balconys were great.

Although we have stayed at this hotel before this visit was a complete surprise and a very welcome one. The staff are efficient and friendly. The food is very good and our room had a beautiful sea view. Sidmouth is a lovely town, having all you need without the "gimmicky" attractions!

Stayed at the hotel from 23 Dec 2012 to 27 Dec 2012. What an amazing hotel and staff were very good at their jobs and nothing to much if you asked for help. Food was brilliant and service excellent. My wife and I stayed as part of a coach tour, I was the driver and our time was very very good and it makes a nice change to be known by our names and not just Driver+1 !!! We will stay some on our own again hopefully.
Although i was technically working we had a great time here.

Hotel lovely.
Sea view, lovely.
Staff, lovely.
Food....terrible!

Dinner and breakfast is like a millitery operation, order taken and food arrives within 2 minutes!
Plate cleared and second corse arrives within 2 minutes...and so on.
All food must be cooked way in advance and kept in warmers, the same goes for breakfast!
Such a shame as hotel and staff lovely, and as for sea view...there's no better!

Room Tip: sea view! Room Only!

The hotel was great. The views were fantastic so were the staff. A big hotle with lots of space and rooms so all the guests are not on top of each other over all a great place. The food was great and the spa facilities were amazing. It is Coles to the town and the beech.
