“Family seaside get together”
Reviewed 9 August 2014

Have visited this hotel many times and this stay was for a family get together in August. Convenient location for the beach across the road which was enjoyed by the grandchildren. Meals, choice and the friendly service in the dining room were great this time, also cleaning staff very friendly, however reception was efficient but not particularly helpful and friendly. It was Folk Week so some rooms noisy at night but we had expected that, and enjoyed some of the folk activities during the daytime, we also used the nearby swimming pool. We enjoyed our stay and I hope we will be able to stay for another family get together.

Room Tip: Some rooms at the back of the hotel have kitchen extractors outside which are at times noisy and vib...

Please accept our apologies for reception not being friendly, we shall certainly take this up with them. Glad however that on the whole, you and your family enjoyed your stay and we hope to welcome you back soon.

Great location on the seafront with limited amount of on site parking. Room plain but well decorated and clean. Had a room on the back of the hotel with plenty of windows. Lift to all floors. Breakfast good but disorganised service. Had to laugh when asking for brown toast and ketchup to go with the bacon as a plate arrived with ketchup on brown toast !!!! Enjoyed the hydro spa in the basement for an extra cost.

We are sorry to hear that breakfast was a little disorganised and not up to our usual standard of service – we were obviously experiencing a “fawlty towers” morning. Thank you for taking it with such good grace although please be assured that some further training will be delivered. It’s always nice to hear that our guests enjoyed the Hydra-Spa and our superb sea front location. Thank you.

Needed a few days away 4 in all to escape the stress of London.
The hotel is right on the seafront and I had a sea view single small but adequate... I could open the window and hear the sea which was lovely. Its not a boutique hotel its old fashioned but the staff are all helpful and friendly.

Food was excellent breakfast served politely and quickly. Dinner had plenty of choices. Afternoon tea and scones was also a nice touch.

I used the spa which was very relaxing and had a very good massage.

The start of folk week was interesting even though I don't like folk it meant the town was lively
with stalls on the prom and band on in nearby bars..

Room Tip: Seaview rooms lovely

There’s nothing quite like sea air to revive and refresh! I'm delighted you enjoyed your stay with us and it sounds like it did the trick. I will pass on your comments to our chef and therapists, thank you.

Stayed at the 'York & Faulkner' in July for a long weekend with a coach party.
The Hotel is very conveniently placed being on the seafront and just around the corner from the shops. All level walking.
My single room was small but adequate. Room and bathroom clean and comfortable bed. Shower (no bath) which I found a little difficult to control as regards water temperature. The absence of a bath was not important to me for the weekend but ask for a bath if that is your particular requirement.
All staff were smartly dressed and polite and helpful.
The approach to dining was a little old-fashioned with everything being served for you onto the plate even the mint sauce. Even the breakfast cereals were put into the dishes for you.
Some things I would have preferred to self-serve but do not want to be negative as, on the whole, the food was of a high quality.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review as it is always insightful and to hear guest feedback. We were a little disappointed that you found the silver service old-fashioned as the vast majority of our guests remark how nice it is not to have to endure buffet style service.

Stayed in this lovely hotel very recently. Excellent position. The seafront was very nice. A real English seaside town with good shops and amenities. People were without exception really pleasant and polite. And felt very safe to wander around at all times. The Hotel was excellent. Brilliant food . Staff were helpful and always friendly. Restuarant was great. And a good mix of people staying there. Will definitely be returning.

Room Tip: A seaview room is great. With the window open the sound of the sea was wonderful

A family holiday- our party ranged from 16 years to 88 years. The hotel was exceptionally clean and tidy. We had 3 rooms (2 different floors) and all overlooked the sea.The food was absolutely wonderful and really enjoyed by all of us- excellent breakfast, afternoon tea and evening meal. The staff were all very friendly-particular praise to the lovely ladies on reception and all the lovely young people who had multiple roles in the hotel and did them all with a smile. I really cannot recommend this hotel enough - this is the 2nd time we have visited and we are already looking forward to our next visit.

Room Tip: Worth paying a bit extra for a room with a seaview - lovely to wake up to a specacular view in the m...

We came here on recommendation and we very happy with everything about the hotel and staff
They could not have been more helpful. It is predominately used by older folks, but there were some young ones there.
Great value for money, and the afternoon tea is a bit of a treat.
The hotel was kept in very good condition, clean and well painted in and out.
Lovely meals and good helpings.
We will return.

Room Tip: Chose a sea view and leave the window open to listen to the waves. Very soothing.
