Unable to get in our normal place but found this just as good. Stayed for a long weekend and really impressed with the place. Good location, clean room with splendid views over the north bay.
Everything one needed in the room including a super kingsize bed! Derek was very friendly and the perfect host ( Never met Anne). An excellent breakfast ( especially the sausages) with a good selection.
Would recommend to anyone and very reasonable charges.

Room Tip: We were on the top floor so bit of a climb if you have problems with stairs. Didn,t bother us though...

This is a lovely hotel. The proprietor, Derek, was friendly and very helpful, recommending restaurants and places to see. Our large seafront room had everything: plenty of room, lovely comfortable bed and reasonable sized shower room, with lovely big fluffy towels. All very clean and well-appointed. The breakfasts were wonderful, with loads of choice of fruit, cereals, and anything you wanted cooked. However the hotel is, in common with most of Scarborough's seafront hotels, tall and narrow so accommodation is on several floors and there is no lift. Not a problem if you are fit! Parking can be a problem; we were given a permit but finding a space was a little difficult initially - although this would be the same for any of the hotels in this area.
I would highly recommend The Wharncliffe: it's in a lovely position on the seafront, the rooms and breakfasts are great and the host welcoming.

Good location with a great view but the rooms are small, although they have everything you need, there was no bath because of the size of the room and the shower was only just big enough, the food was ok but the owners where down right rude and not very accommodating maybe it's time they retired!! Probably too many stairs for elderly guests

Thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback. We are disappointed that your stay with us was not as it should have been.
We would like to apologise to you, it is not our intention to be rude or less than accommodating to any of our guests.
We do have one room with an en-suite bath rather than a shower for any guests that would prefer a bath. We agree that some people do think there are a lot of stairs to the top floor rooms, but we do try to accommodate guests, where possible, on a lower floor if we aware that our visitors would prefer this.
We hope that you will accept our apologies for your less than perfect stay with us.

We have just returned today from a 2 night at the Whancliffe, this is the best bed and breakfast hotel we have stayed in. It is spotlessly clean. Our room had a king size bed, spotless bedding, brillant white soft towels, and a wide selection of teas, etc, it even had a sewing kit and shoe shine. The breakfast choice was excellant, yoghurts, cereals, fruit juice were there for you to help yourself along with a wide choice of fresh fruit, we counted 9 different fruits during our stay, when you have eaten your way through these, you then have a full cooked breakfast or a choice from the menu of various other cooked options. Ann and Derek were always available to help make your stay an enjoyable one. There were even umbrellas available by the front door if needed. Will be returning for a further visit and recommend this hotel to any-one
