As usual we had our new year break at the Norbreck. The entertainment was great and especially the compare who was kept all the entertainment going, as well as being an excellent singer.
The accommodation was a little dusted and needed some upgrading and the lift (which was immediately outside our room) was very noisy. However this did not detract from the holiday as a whole. The food was adequate and the service was great.

Room Tip: Make sure you ask for a sea view room of either the north or South Bay as the views are spectacular.

Dear Joyce M, thank you for your review I am pleased that you enjoyed the food and also the entertainment our compare Daniel is a wonderful asset to the hotel, as are the staff which I also see that you mentioned. We are currently in the process of refurbishing our bedrooms, we have a certain number completed every year and this will be continuing for the foreseeable future. The lift is also being serviced next week so the breaks will be tightened and the squeak will be gone. Thank you for staying at the Norbreck Hotel and we hope to see you again soon.

We went on a little 2 day break to the Bay Norbreck Hotel with National Holidays on the 27/12/13
Wasnt very pleased about makeing us wait till 3pm for our room key when we arried at 11am.
The room 306 top floor but with a good lift when people remembered to shut the outer gates ? was warm clean and the bed was comfortable enough for me and i have a very bad back.TV was small but with 5 channels and sky news.Plenty of coffee, tea and milk but no biscuit which would have been a nice touch seeing as we had to wait so long for the key.We paid for a sea view which was £10 each for the 2 night's.Plenty of hot water and a nice big bath and shower.
Evening meal was nice and plenty to choice from coffee and tea was help yourself on the way to the lounge.Brakefast was very good with anything you asked for.The hotel do meal deals but you have to ask at the reception the day before and the night porter makes them up.
Night entertainment on Friday and Saturday was very good.We had 4 drinks vouchers each for both days so you could use them for a drink in the afternoon which i thought was a good idea. There was also bingo and a quiz. The bar come lounge was very nice.Looked very new.
The dineing room overlooked the sea and been high up near the castle the views were great.
We had a trip out to Whitby but didnt bother and shopped in Scarborough.Ok to walk down into town but got a taxi back for 4 of us was £4.50.
On our last day we had to be out of our rooms by 10am.Brakefast was 8-9.
Then we were told we would not be leaving till 2pm.Not happy about that. The driver let us on the bus at 2pm and went off for a brake till 2.30 pm.Both ways on the bus we didnt stop which i liked as we had a toilet on the bus and it was only about 2 hours from the last pick up.
All in all a nice brake away and a nice hotel.Talk about SHOP TILL YOU DROP.

Room Tip: .Room 306 very nice

Hi mmmmmmm99, it’s great to see you enjoyed you Twixmas break with us. Apologies for room not being available earlier, having had a full checkout from our Christmas break that morning the Housekeeping team worked as quick as they could to be able to get you settled in, the bar and lounge as you found were there for your use whilst you waited although lots of guests went out to visit the town centre. I will pass your comments onto chef with regards to his food, and the housekeeping team for keeping your room clean for you. It’s nice to hear you also enjoyed the entertainment and the surrounding area with the spectacular views we are so lucky to have. I will forward the remarks regarding your arrival and departure times to National Holidays who arrange that side of things. I look forward to seeing you again in the future.

We've just had a Shearings coach holiday here for Christmas. The staff at the hotel are extremely helpful and friendly, creating a lovely atmosphere. Could do with more help in the restaurant though. The waiters/waitress were hard pushed to cope with the numbers and some people got forgotten or the orders were muddled. The food was OK but not always hot. However, the entertainment was second to none. The best we've ever had at a Shearings hotel with different and good acts each night. Our room was clean but a little on the cramped side, but we did have a splendid seaview as requested and paid for!! For a 2-star hotel it's good value for money. Unfortunately our sleep was disturbed by next-door room having TV on till after midnight!!!

Room Tip: rooms on the front give a lovely seaview.

Dear babs74_11, thank you for your positive review of the Norbreck Hotel. The staff work extremely hard and I am very proud to have them here.
I am pleased to hear that you enjoyed the entertainment and also the room, the sea views are absolutely stunning on the North Bay.
I am sorry to hear that you found the waiting service rushed and that your order was forgotten or muddled. I will be passing your comments onto the staff to improve this in the future. It is also unfortunate that your neighbours kept the TV on until so late. This was mentioned to myself at Reception but unfortunately quite far into your stay. In future, please do not hesitate to let us know any problems that you are having so we can resolve them quickly. We hope to see you again in the near future.

Just come back from a Shearings trip to the Norbrech, our room was clean and warm a bit small but good enough with a lovely view of the north bay, the food was very good and varied and the staff were very friendly and hard working. Overall it was a very good holiday even though it was only a 2 star hotel and we will more than likely go back. Value for money.

Room Tip: Ignore the moaners they expect 4 star for 2 star

We went with National Holidays late November and had a great time at the Norbreck. Meals were delicious and plentiful, staff very friendly, welcoming and helpful. Especially enjoyed the entertainment on the Saturday night. Not really into Bingo but everyone that played seemed to enjoy it. Our room was 216, small but cosy and very clean and a lovely view of the bay over the churchyard. We were not disappointed at all, even after reading some of the negative reviews. Definitely will be making a return visit. Thank you to all the hardworking staff who made our visit a very pleasant one..

We returned to the NORBREK scarbrough because of the pleasant experience we had the first time. We were not to be disappointed as the experience was even better the second time around . It isn't a 4 star hotel by any means but you are not paying 4 star prices! SO YOU get a good return for your money, good entertainment, especially a gentleman who goes by the name of DANIEL DE FOE a good all round entertainer, descent food & rooms & a stunning view from the cliff top. I must though!unfortunately! put a damper on things by mentioning our coach driver ! a thoroughly unpleasant little chap, whom no one had a good word for, uncommunitive & when he did speak was quite brusk proberly verging on bullying especially to the more elderly of our group. Our coach was no 310 so ill leave it at that. Apart from this we did enjoy the break & will go back again as long as this problem is resolved ! SORRY but I would have given a higher mark but many thanks to the other staff.

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from the lift!

My self and a group of four friends from Middlesbrough, who have travelled to many national holiday resorts find the reviews rather upsetting..if you want a five star hotel you pay for one. Our group of five are all over 60 and found the rooms, restaurant and entertainment very good.we found the staff very helpful and courteous and will be back again. Room 308 307 and 211.
