Stayed in the guest house while hiking the Cleveland Way. Guest house is close to the long distance trail and only a shortish stroll away from downtown, a little further from the castle, the harbor and the South Bay. The place is tidy, the room was okay for what we had booked. Loved the bath tub in the private bath after a long day hiking. Private bath was not en-suite, but other than that the facilities met what we had asked for. The host was very helpful, pointed out a few good restaurants (the one we then chose was really good) and was friendly and interested in all his guests, not just surface interest. Breakfast was good and plentyful.
We would stay there again. Online booking was good, too, saved us the hassle on our way out, being a little short in time.

We stayed at the dolphin hotel for three nights over the easter holidays.
My wife and I in aged 50 were in a family room with ensuit and my 15 year old daughter in a double room with her own bathroom right next door .
The rooms are very nice tea and coffee facilities and basicly everthing you need for a comfortable stay .
The towels were changed daily and the beds made as well unusal nowadays.
Gary the host was brilliant freindly and offered advice if and when you wanted it.
Now the important bit the breakfast was fantastic cerial to start then a wonderful full english breakfast and copius supplies of toast and jam.
We agreed we couldnt find a fault with the dolphin hotel and we have already recommended it family and friends.
To finish the location is brilliant and Gary gives you a parking permit for the entire lenth of youre stay so we left the car from day one and walked everywhere.
BRILLIANT GARY KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK

I stayed here in August with my partner for one night. I was pleasently surprised on arrival at how nice the place was, total bargain!
Our room was ace, clean and modern. Breakfast was excellent. Service was excellent.
I cannot think of anything bad to say at all.
We found the staff to be extremely friendly and helpful, the location was also good, near to Peasholm park and a short walk to the bus terminus on the promenade.
We really enjoyed our stay and will definitley stay at the Dolphin next time we visit Scarborough.

I stayed here with my freind and two teenage girls. Its lovely and clean with well appointed rooms, nice fluffy towels in the bathrooms. Gary was very freindly and helpful. Its located in a quiet area but with good links to south bay and a miniture railway to the sealife centre. Close to peaseholm park where we went for a ride on the pedalos.
The breakfast was very generous and very tasty, four of us stayed for two nights and it was less than 200 pound, a real bargain but a quality one. Will definatley go back if we return to scarborough.

My daughter, three grandsons and I stayed at the Dolphin hotel for two nights, arriving quite late at night. Having had a four-hour wait in London at the car hire office where we had booked a car five months previously and it or an alternative was not available for us. I rang the Dolphin hotel owner Gary, to let him know our planned tea time arrival was not going to be possible and that I had no idea what time we would get there. We arrived around 10.40pm, very tired and weary travelers indeed, we where greeted with a friendly welcome by the Gary who was most helpful taking our cases to our room and making sure we where comfortable. The family room was clean, roomy, tastefully decorated and had a nice size well equipped bathroom, consisted of a king size bed, bunks and a fold out which my grandson found comfortable. We fell asleep instantly and woke refreshed in the morning ready for our breakfast, which was a delicious full cook English breakfast, a variety of cereals, toast, jams, juice, tea and coffee. The table service was spot on and the breakfast was cooked expertly all of which we where surprised to find was done by the Gary himself. He obviously was well organized and proficient to tackle both jobs and produce such a culinary delight every time. My oldest grandson was so taken with his breakfast he left a token of his appreciation on the last day, which is not an easy approval for a 15 year old with a mother who is an excellent cook herself. He marveled that anyone could cook an English breakfast with the same stand as his mother, serving an enjoyable grease free meal. We all looked forward to our breakfast each morning. The parking was outside the hotel using a guest permit, which was given to us on arrival. We did not have much problem finding a parking space, although on occasion it might not have been right in front of the hotel, it was close. The location of the hotel is quite near to most main attractions, which is an easy walking. Although for the South Bay, we opted to drive since we only had a short stay in Scarborough and wanted to show the boys as much as possible during our stay. We would recommend The Dolphin Hotel as a pleasant comfortable and reasonable place to stay whilst on holiday. We would have liked to stay longer but our plans where to spend the bulk of our holiday in the Lake District visiting family and friends, whom my grandsons had never seen having been born in Australia. We would certainly stay at this hotel again in the future when we revisit Scarborough.

  • Liked — clean, tidy comfortable, friendly and great breakfast
  • Disliked — needed more cups in the family room for tea/coffee service.
