I stayed here with my wife, 2 year old son and six month old daughter 30th June to 5th July 2010. We stayed in a sea front 2 bed apartment on the 3rd floor which had a lovely view but unfortunately the noise levels from constant buses, boy races with noisy exhausts, motorbikes and worst of all teenagers hanging about till 4am in the morning shouting all contributed to keeping us up all night. There was a police presence nightly from 7pm to 9pm watching out for anti social behaviour but once they had gone the teenagers do as they please. Also the aprtments are sadly lacking air conditioning making them unbearingly hot and stuffy. We were also terrified our 2 year old son would stand on one of the chairs and get over the balcony. We did ask to move rooms on the 3rd night and staff were very accomodating, they moved us to a quiter room on the back of the apartment block with limited sea view but it was smaller and didnt have the same appeal so we returned to the original. We ended up checking out 2 days early due to the intolerable noise and heat.
The Oasis cafe just down the promenade is very popular with locals and provided a lovely bacon sarney and cuppa in the mornings at a very reasonable price, also the blue crush bar below the apartments is very popular serving very good food and drink.

Overall the apartments are modern, clean and well equipped but to get a 5 star they need air con, wifi and need to do something regarding the anti social behaviour.

We booked a long weekend in a 2 bedroom sea view apartment for myselft, my husband and 2 daughters aged 15 and 11. The apartments are very spacious with top quality fittings and furniture and have everything you could need. We were provided with bread, jam, milk, butter, washing up liquid and dishwasher tablets and there were mini toiletries in both bathrooms with 2 dressing gowns for use during your stay. Our view was of the sea and scarborough castle and the only noise at night was that of the sea gently rolling in and out. Our room was equipped with a flat screen TV, DVD player (you can hire DVDs from main office for free) and Nintendo WII (free game hire from main office) and and X Box (free game hire from main office) and there was a TV in the master bedroom. Parking is very secure and you have your own space to use for the duration of your stay. A must is to try the ice cream sundaes from the cafe/ice cream parlour which is underneath the apartments! Before we left we had booked a weeks stay for the summer as these apartments are better for families than a B&B as you are not all confined to one room and the kitchens are so nice I didn't mind one bit making a cooked breakfast every morning especially as we ate it on the balcony in the sunshine overlooking the sea.........

I booked a long weekend for my wedding anniversary and hoped we would be staying in one of the rooms - pictures of which are plastered all over the sands web site. Most of the nice pictures seem to be of the penthouse not the standard 1 2 or 3 bed flats. I booked a sea facing one and indeed, if I peered around the edge of the window – I could see the sea! My pictures posted with this review are a bit more realistic.
Directly below us was the roundabout where the busses stopped and we overlooked the area frequented by teenagers with bottles of cider bought from the supermarket below (which was open till 10). The noise from these kids is terrible and some were quite intimidating. On Saturday evening there is a police presence though with vans and dogs so that helps a bit but it is not exactly glamorous.
The rooms are pretty small and there are only windows facing one way so no breeze through the flats – in August this place must be like an oven – if you are unlucky enough to be on one of the lower floors the noise will make it impossible to open the windows anyway. No WiFi either - not exactly 5 star..
A small point worth noting if you are a smoker – they do not tolerate smoking outside on the balcony – someone actually complained and we were warned that we would be fined if we smoked again.
If you do happen to go to this place – one redeeming factor, there is a restaurant in Filey called 5 Leys – look it up and get a taxi there – it is fantastic. In fact if you want a quiet break, stay there..

We stayed in one of the Penthouse Suites at The Sands and, from the moment we arrived and were shown to our room, we knew it was a cut above anywhere we'd been before. The staff were friendly and welcoming, the views from the wrap-around balcony were breath-taking and the apartment was luxurious throughout. A well equipped kitchen complemented the modern design of the place and the bedrooms were comfortable and spacious. Oh, did I mention the view? Wow!

I would go back again in a shot. It's expensive but worth every penny.

We went to Scarborough to celebrate my son's 2nd birthday. It was an ideal location for anyone wanting to take a seaside break without all the hubbub of the arcades, etc. and within easy walking distance of Peasholm Park and the minature railway. The fact that the tour bus to take you along to South Bay stopped right outside was great too. We had one of the 2 bed sea view apartments which was exactly as the pictures on their website show and the views were absolutely stunning - entertaining too, as we spent quite a bit of time watching people get soaked by the waves! The car park is secure and free to residents which gave us peace of mind during our stay, and the staff are just lovely.

amazing apartment, absolutely immaculate and great facilities. The welcome pack of milk, bread, jams, rock tea.coffee and sugar are a great idea.
Great location as the seaside bus stops right outside. Can definately recommend eating at the blue cafe too!!
My only gripe was the balconys, the doors did not lock in a very secure way and with a 3 year old i did worry. Also the front door had a terrible lock, so on one hand was worried bout my daughter wandering out of the apartment and on the other was worried bout not being able to unlock the door if there was a fire!!
