This is the second time we have used this hotel and this time we used a Groupon voucher which made our stay exceptional value for money. The owners are very welcoming and breakfast was excellent served in a lovely dining room with two large TVs (nice to hear the news while eating breakfast). We were in room 11 and I think a previous reviewer (the only poor review I can find) was totally out of order with their description of this room. The room was a bit on the small side but warm, comfortable, clean and nice furniture. I agree the shower room was rather small and anybody who was very overweight would have got jammed between the shower and the wall when sitting on the toilet but I couldn't see a problem with the actual shower cubicle which was normal size so shouldn't be a problem for overweight people.

Room Tip: If you are a rather large person ask not to be put in room 11.

Just come home from a few days at the Maynard, the owners were really friendly, a nice welcome, nice warm comfy room, fantastic breakfast " is there anything extra you would like " etc. been in many hotels and this is the first one that has up to date TVs and the bonus of a good picture on all of them. Outside no parking problems whatsoever. This family hotel is well worth a visit. Next time in Scarborough will certainly book in at the Maynard.

Room Tip: Our 2nd floor room No 6 was at the back, it was warm, very clean, great bed and had a new bathroom...

Just got back from a lovely weekend meeting up with friends. After a hellish journey up we were warmly welcomed by the owners who were kind enough to keep the kitchen open so we could get some food. Breakfast was excellent and the room was really lovely. People have mentioned that it was dated, I felt that this added to its charm - reminded me of holidays as a kid. It's a short walk into town which is lovely, parking is a nightmare but then it is everywhere. Really liked this place and the owners were really friendly.

We stayed at this Bed and Breakfast on the weekend of 13/09/2013

We were welcomed when we arrived and was told about the facilities in the B&B and what was going on in the surrounding area. The owners were really nice, welcoming and made our children feel part of the place.

Breakfast very good. Room was clean, new towels every day, a brown toilet and wash basin suite which I have never seen in that colour before. :-)

Parking was tight, luckily we did not have to use the car otherwise we would have to park our of sight of the hotel.
The only sticking point we had was that we was on the top floor (60+ steps to the top), our kids are now both old enough and mobile, but if one of them was in a buggy or needed carrying this would have been a problem.

Wi-Fi available, but the signal was very low in our room due to the router being placed on one of the lower floors. Our 3g signal on our Vodafone and O2 networks was very strong so we could still get on line.

We agreed on the way home that we would stay here again if we visited Scarborough in the future but would ask for a room on one of the lower floors.

We have just returned from our 4th weekend stay in 12 month at the Maynard.Lovely big clean rooms, comfy beds and an excellent breakfast. But what makes the Maynard special are the wonderful hosts Stuart and Angela nothing is too much trouble. We wouldn't stay anywhere else in Scarborough. Looking forward to going back many more times

We have just come back from a 2 night break here and had a very enjoyable time. Right from booking it several months ago, with the friendliness of the lady on the phone, I knew it was going to be a nice place. We arrived late after bad traffic and got a very warm welcome by Stuart and Angela. Even though they finish serving food at 8pm they offered to make us a meal so we didn't have to drag the kids out, who were very tired at this point (9.15) It was very nice too. Our room was room 2 and was a very spacious family room. Extremely clean also. The beds were really comfortable and the bedding smelt lovely. Breakfast was also really good. The full english was delicious. I was really impressed by the range of cereals they had, catering from muesli to kids cereals, lots to choose from. They really looked after the kids, with special plates, bowls, cups and placemats too. I know these are small things but they all make a difference. They even had an Xbox and wii for the kids n loads of DVDs etc. very family friendly. Angela and Stuart were what made the place special. They were extremely welcoming, nothing was too much trouble, and I felt like we had made 2 new friends before we left. I have nothing bad to say about the place at all. When we go back to Scarborough I will definately be booking to stay here again 100%

Four of us stayed here for three nights pleasant stay, comfy beds and the breakfast was very nice I only had one little problem which was are kettle didn't work in are room but as soon as we mentioned it it was changed. If I was to revisit Scarborough I would stay here as long as I could book room 3 again as there is a lot of stairs but they did make us aware of this when we booked it
