Recently stayed here after we were upgraded due to a double booking error at a hotel just down the road.
We had a lovely friendly reception when we booked in, our room was on the top floor with lovely views of the sea and the front street, looked spectacular at night with all the lights on!
The room its self was spacious with a ensuite bathroom, had tea and coffee facilities in the room which is always a plus!

We didnt stay in the hotel for a long period of time apart from going straight to our room after a busy day, it seemed suited for people of an older age, we are 21 and 24, i think we were the youngest in the hotel by a long shot, not that that made any difference to our stay.

oh, and the view from the balcony is well worth having a look at, even better with a nice drink in your hand!

Room Tip: rooms on the top floor have a fabulous view and you dont hear as much of the noise from the streets...

Great hotel with superb views, we had a lovely large room overlooking Scarborough bay. There are several very comfortable and well appointed lounges and a well set out bar, Very good if you have mobility problems as good lift and very handy car park, Room very clean and comfortable with good TV, en suite, comfortable chairs, tea making etc. Staff very polite, attentive and willing to help - we felt very welcome. Food is designed for coach parties and is inexpensive - but all served in a fantastic dining room overlooking the bay, with crisp linen cloths and super quick service - we could not fault it. Kathy, the maitre'd was exceptional in her care of visitors and ensured everything ran very smoothly, making us feel very relaxed. The staff are to be congratulated on their care and kindness to visitors and for all the hard work they put in to get everyone served. We look forward very much to returning. Would just suggest they put chair near lift entrances in case of a wait.

Room Tip: ask for sea view if you can

Have just returned from a 3 day coaching holiday which included 2 nights at the Esplanade. Having read other reviews I was expecting it to be a bit dated and it was, though clean and comfortable. Let down by the bathroom which only had an overbath old fashioned type shower that you can never get the right temperature plus the taps were so old you couldn't tell which was hot and which was cold! Having said that, it was clean and the double bed I had was very comfortable.

The hotel is in an excellent situation overlooking the South Bay and although my room (485) technically had a seaview, it was a small window that was really too high up for a short person like myself. The room was also next to the lift (a very efficient modern one) which in itself was not noisy, but the number of people coming and going to use it made it a fairly noisy room.

The dining room was large but we were told where to sit and asked to remain at those tables for the remainder of our stay. The menu offered three choices for each course at dinner and everything you would expect for breakfast, cooked or otherwise. The dinners were reasonable except for some disgusting tomato soup, but as others have said it is all done at a gallop and as a slow eater I caused a bit of problem to my table and had to just leave food unfinished. As there was no second sitting I can only assume that the rush was because they wanted the staff to finish at 8pm and they had to lay for breakfast when we had finished dinner. But the staff were friendly and the food appeared very quickly once ordered, and was on very hot plates.

All in all it was as expected and far from being the worst place I've ever stayed in if somewhat regimented and old fashioned.

We chose this hotel as it is dog friendly, and what a surprise we got.Expecting a second rate room because of out dog,we were amazed to be given one of the best in the hotel.A large corner room with not one but two different sea views, and a balcony of sorts. The bathroom had seen better days but it was clean and well equipped.Check in was friendly and efficient as the staff are great. We didn't eat here, but the menu is very good, and 3 courses for £18 isn't bad value. There is a car park which we were lucky to get on,but there is plenty of on street parking nearby.Would recommend this hotel to anyone whether they have a dog or not.We will use it again.

Stayed overnight recently, staff could not of been more friendly.

We stayed with our two pooches, the room was lovely and clean and the view was overlooking the bay. Brilliant location with each access to the town and promenade.

Defo use this hotel again
