This was a last minute booking for a one night stay in order to see a play at the Stephen Joseph theatre. Considering there was hardly anything left to book in the whole of Scarborough I was a little worried that there was not only a room available in this hotel but at such a reasonable price.

We were very pleasantly surprised at the location, room, and friendliness of the staff. Our twin room had a lovely view over the bay and, even though the bathroom needed updating, it was clean and comfortable.

The hotel is perfectly situated in South Bay for the town centre (great for the theatre) and the beaches. And despite it being almost full it was really quiet - we found it strange that the other guests weren't making the most of the hotel facilities.

The only downside was the parking as we spent a while trying to find a space. There's a council car park very nearby and it would have been helpful if reception had let us know. However, I'll definitely return for a longer stay sometime soon.

Had an excellent stay, the room we had was very spacious and had an amazing view of the bay. Everywhere was very clean and the staff were really friendly and helpful. It has it's own car park which was great. The breakfast was really good quality and again the staff were brilliant. Really good value for money and would definitely stay again. The only down side was that it could do with a bit of an update in the bathroom as the shower was old and temperamental but it didn't really affect our stay.

Room Tip: We were on the first floor and passers by could see in so I would request a higher floor in future...

We had a lovely view over the sea from our first floor room, the hotel is ageing but the food was delicious, served on warm plates and was fresh. The entertainment was good and most of the staff very friendly.

Room Tip: Ask for a sea view, as some guests did not get one, or have a room as good as ours.

We visited Scarborough on a business trip and found the hotel facilities to be excellent.
I have mobility problems but upper rooms were served by an extremely modern & reliable lift with no long waiting periods.
A short taxi ride to the nearby CIU Clubs, 'Corporation Club' & 'WMC' cost in the £5.00 region, (4 of us = £1.25 each- 'Nippy Cars' were superb), and offered great evening entertainment with reasonably priced drinks.
Highly recommended & thanks to all concerned.

This hotel has a *** rating. The room and linen were spotlessly clean and we were fortunate to have a sea view overlooking the harbour and castle. I would not recommend this hotel for anyone who has mobility problems as it is located on the top of the South Cliff (hence the stunning views) and has a series of steps and steep slopes to encounter but a very short trip by taxi overcomes this problem. The bath/shower room was rather basic but quite acceptable. The dining room was spacious and overlooking the South Bay. The food was not gourmet style but more like home cooking. The staff were always cheerful and ever willing to help in whatever way they could. There was entertainment on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday nights from 8pm. Another feature of the hotel was the large veranda/balcony which overlooked the South Bay and was ideal for having drinks watching the sun set. The hotel is located on a quiet road so does not have a problem with noise pollution. I have been to several of the more popular larger hotels in Scarborough and overall have definitely found this to be one of the best.

Room Tip: Some first floor rooms have a small balcony to supplement the superb panoramic view.

Spent one night on a coach trip. Room was fine very clean, bathroom spotless. A little dated. Hotel itself was good. Food was acceptable but boring. Entertainment was provided and although not many people were there had a good night singer was very good. For those with mobility problems this hotel might not be suitable due to steps and steep walk from town.

Stayed at this Hotel 21st to 24th July with my Daughter. We were in a twin room with stunning views of the Bay, a traditional Hotel and yes a little TLC is needed nothing much but adds to the character of these old buildings i think. The most inportant to us was the fact it was spotlessly clean & Food excellent 5*,because being on a special diet is always a concern and have to be realy carefull, but the staff couldnt have been better and nothing was too much trouble for them. It is a beautifully postioned Hotel, but NOT for people with restricted mobility, i had a wheelchair but my Daughter even struggled to push that. They seem to have alot of coach trips in so a large number of guests were elderly, it didnt bother us but the Hotel was quiet at night. Tues & Weds night had a Singer/Comedian on which were thought were good and sang along but we were in the miner and most went to bed which was a shame as the singer did his best. Would reccommend this Hotel and would deff go back for a quiet weekend away again.

Room Tip: Rooms with seaview the best.
