“Room with a View”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 September 2010

The slightly faded and dated exterior did in no way reflect on the interior. A lovely hotel with excellent views, we got room 364 and the view and across the South Bay, the sea, and south were splendid. The dining room was very airy and modern with excellent food and excellent service from a very helpful staff. Do I have any complaints? yes, our stay was too short.

A wonderful short break at a very good price. Our room was a lovely size with one window over looking the town and one looking out to sea, beautiful views.
The dining room was beautifully decorated, light and clean and had a spectacular view over the bay. The food and service were second to none and every one was helpful and pleasant.
An excellant break.

Stayed here twice now. The business of the hotel is coach or tour parties and they are handled very well. We stayed as individuals and were made to feel welcome, and even given the "best seats in the restaurant overlooking the bay and harbour. Nothing is excellent but everything is far better than you would expect. A good breakfast, adequate table d'hote dinner. All served on hot plates. The views from the hotel are second to none. Worth a try for a couple of nights, try to get one of the rooms on the first floor.

I have been to this hotel for Christmas and New Year for the past two years and was very pleased with the service the reception staff where very helpful and friendly. I had a family room big enough to house us all my sisster had a smaller family room and my mum and dad had a big double the same as my brother and his girlfriend little touch ups could be done to the room but all in all i felt the room was good and tidy the cleaning staff kept the room nice and clean and thats whats important me a clean room. The location of the hotel is fantastic and the view from the balcony was lovely there was always pleanty to do with entertainment on nearly every night in the ballroom. I Loved the food. I carnt say I hated any part of my holiday but next time i wont be going for both Christmas and New Year but belive me I would if I could.

I`ve been many times over the years to this hotel. It was at one time a very nice hotel.Old but fine with reasonable food at a reasonable price.I stopped going for reasons I will state and returned last year to see if anything had improved. The answer was no.What`s basicly wrong here is you are now charged premium prices for a coach party hotel but prices do not reflect what the coach party pays.It was at one time that the private guests got a diferent menu but not so now. You`ll get the same as the coach party which is of a standard you`d expect a t a lower price but you`get the same for a much more expesive price.
Breakfast is served on a tea plate to make it look bigger and is of the greasy spoon variety. Some rooms have been upgraded but bathrooms are poor.Service is not good.No porter now ,no recognised bar staff.Cuts in service but not prices.
Position of hotel is second to none just a shame the old standard has slipped. My advice go there but book through a tour company.
