“Booked to go back again!!!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 May 2014 via mobile

We returned from a wonderful stay at Humble Bee Farm last week & my 16 month old has asked every day since where the "chick chicks" & "Buttercup" the farm goat is!!!
We stayed in 'Scarborough Castle' wigwam, which was at the bottom of the farm. Perfect location for peace & quiet to enjoy the tranquil farm life, but a close enough walk to the excellent toilet, shower & communal washing up facilities (best facilities I have ever experienced on a camp site!!)
The wigwam was fabulous, we comfortably fitted in 3 adults & an almost 3 year old in the spacious beds & there was even enough room for me to put up a travel cot for my little girl at night.
We hired the fire pits for the 3 nights & it was well worth the £10 per night. Every morning the fire pits were collected & later that day, we would receive fresh wood, paper & fire lighters - it was a truly excellent service!!!
It really is a wonderful place which you can tell is well loved & cared for by its lovely owners.
Having just booked for a few more nights in June, we can't wait to go back again & I'm certain it won't be the last visit ;)) x

We booked merry dale cottage for our first holiday with our 5 month old daughter in addition to celebrating our parents ruby anniversary. Other family members stayed in one of the wigwams.
We all had a fantastic time. The cottage was gorgeous and extremely clean. It is high spec and has all the mod cons including under floor heating, two en suites, hot tub etc. We were able to take our dog as the cottage was dog friendly, however this certainly does not reflect in the quality of the cottage as it was super clean.
Julie was there to meet us with a very warm welcome and her and john were most helpful throughout our stay.
Humble bee farm proved to be an ideal setting to wander about looking at the animals and walking our dog. It's also an ideal location to visit the seaside resorts of scarborough Bridlington and Filey. We also had a trip into York which was also not too far away. Our two year old niece adored the wigwam and the on site playpark in addition to the chickens and pigmy goat.
We are so pleased to have found an ideal location for our family holiday and certainly will be back again.

The cottage was well equipped with everything we needed, as baby-proof as you could hope for, and the staff were helpful at every opportunity. Leeds, Malton, York, Scarborough are all within driving distance. Hot tub was a great way to relax once the baby was asleep :)

Many, many thanks for your lovely review, and we are so glad you enjoyed one of our hot tub cottages, Swallows Nest. Of course, our farm and location is one of the key attractions, yet it is lovely when our cottages are appreciated.
Thank you for taking the time to post a review, much appreciated.

Enjoyed a stay here with friends. Great place for kids with lots of farm animals and a play park. Bathrooms and toilets are very clean and water is hot. Nice touch the bacon and sausage sandwiches available for breakfast. Also went on a nature trail that was organised by the owners, kids loved it and a nice way to spend a couple of hours. Only negative for me was the slope the tents are on but it's a small negative and i would definitely recommend this site.

We stayed at Humble Bee Farm for our honeymoon and from beginning to end it was amazing .
Julia was there to greet us and to show us round our cottage.
We had booked Merry Dale Cottage which has a private hot tub in your own courtyard ,underfloor heating and log burner, and bbq, when we entered the cottage it was stunningly beautiful and decorated throughout all the rooms to a very high standard, Waiting for us was a bottle of bubbly and a card on the table with rose petals scattered around and in the bedroom a box of chocolates again with rose petals scattered on the bed and 2 towels shaped into swans facing each other, it was simply stunning .
In the fridge was milk, eggs, bacon and sausage from a local farm all provided to get you started, yummy !. The kitchen was very well stocked with everything you could possibly need.
The farm itself was very peaceful and set in beautiful rolling hills, there are farm animals roaming around including chickens, guinea fowl , cockerels and the very lovable buttercup the pigmy goat .
On the farm there is also walks that take you into the countryside and the stunning views across the valley.
We highly recommend Humble Bee Farm as a honeymoon destination , it was totally relaxing and peaceful.

Room Tip: Merry Dale Cottage has a window View over the Farm Pond and yard .

We stayed in the Merrydale cottage for a week as we loved the idea of spending a week in a cottage with a hottub and on a farm!!! We were not dissappointed, this place is worth every penny. I must admit it was more than we wanted to spend for a week away but I am so glad we did. The facilities in the cottage are perfect and has everything you might need for a break with a toddler of 15 months, home from home. The breakfast package in the fridge was a welcome treat for my husband who was looking forward to sampling the local produce! If my daughter could speak (english rather than baby) I know she would gusg about the animals and being able to mingle with the goats, chickens, ducks and cockerals every day, it just gives you a different way of life for a week which is exactly what we needed. Also its worth mentioning that the location of the farm is just perfect for exploring the local area, we neevr had to drive more than 20 minutes which again is perfect with a little one who is not keen on being in a car seat!!! We visited Filey, Scarborough and Bridlington including the Sealife centre and Miiture railway in Scarborough. We also went to a few of the farm/play centres locally which were great for little ones especially Playdale Farm. And finally a big thanks to Julia and John, expertly set up to provide anything you need at the same time as leaving you to it and lovely to have a warm greeting everyday from them both and feeling like you were really looked after. Couldnt recommend this highly enough especially for families with little children looking for a safe place to stay. I havent even mentioned the play area and the camping/wigwam facilities which looked great!!

Room Tip: Merrydale cottage has hottub which I think is a must and it also has a large living room window look...

Good morning, and hoping you are well! Thank you so much for the lovely write up about your stay in Merry Dale Cottage. We do try and think of everything you could possibly want - and more! - so it's great when people do appreciate our efforts. You mention the picture window in your review: and thank you for doing so as it does give a lovely view over the farmyard. Our farm is a working one so while you can appreciate the animals, and seeing Farmer Percy, you can also 'get away from it all' by relaxing in the hot tub at the rear of the cottage. We do hope you can join us again in the future, and thank you again for writing a review.
