“Fantastic stay”
Reviewed 29 June 2014

I stayed here on 6th June 2014 for 2 nights with my husband, 4 year old and 8 month old.
After booking online Jan called me to ensure I had booked the right room for my family, we changed our room booking to a more suitable room and actually saved a little money.
When we arrived Jan and Ed were so friendly, we really felt welcome and comfortable.

ROOM:
We were shown to our room which was number 5 at the top of the house. Our room had a double bed, single bed and a cot, but did not feel cramped. The beds are very comfortable and the travel cot was brilliant, everything was immaculately clean and there was no wear and tear anywhere.
Our room was ensuite, the bathroom was a good size with a shower cabinet. Tea, coffee, hot choc, juice for kids was provided in room as well as toiletries in bathroom. My son particularly enjoyed the chocolate on the pillow at night.

BREAKFAST:
In the morning the breakfast is epic, there is a great choice of cereal and fruit and then there is Ed's cooked breakfast! We went with the full breakfast and it was delicious, everything was cooked to perfection and was not greasy at all.

AREA:
The guest house is easy walking distance from the beach, with some bars and restaurants and from peasholm park.

In short there is nothing too much trouble to make your stay brilliant, I'm sure they would have read a bed time story and turned off the light if asked lol.

If we return to Scarborough in the future we would not consider staying anywhere else.

Thank you for a great stay x

Very well deserved reputation, the friendliest of welcomes, incredibly helpful, the largest breakfasts ever seen and with options of vegetarian sausages!
Attention to details in rooms such as chocolates on the beautifully fluffy towels and good quality biscuits on the refreshments tray all make for a first class stay.
Happy to recommend.

Ed& Jan are a lovely couple who run this B&B . They do their best for their guests. Spotless room with hospitality tray. English Breakfast is enormous , beautifully presented, served, the bacon is deliciously crispy,(yummy, Ed is a master-chef),everyday fresh fruits on the sideboard .Watch out you can grow muffin top after days ;) .the welcome -and good bye-coffee were excellent.
They both create a friendly, relaxed atmosphere whilst your stay and give advice willingly where to go, what programmes to see, where to eat out.
They deserved the Tripadvisor award in 2013. We (my husband and I)are very happy to have chosen StMichael's for hour holiday . Wish we could have stayed there more! Will come back, ASAP. A BIG f a t thank you both.

We have just returned from St Michaels and it didn't disappoint on the reviews already posted. We were greeted with a friendly welcome from Jan & Ed on arrival with little extras like fruit juice and a bar of chocolate for our Grandchildren who enjoyed sleeping in the bunk beds. The decor and cleanliness were outstanding and the breakfast was amazing nothing was too much trouble. Great value I would highly recommend this accommodation

I am always a bit skeptical when all reviews are as good as the ones written for St. Michael's but all of the accolades are true..We spent 3 nights with Ed and Jan with 2 grandchildren 6&8 and were touched by the thoughtfulness, attention to detail and welcoming atmosphere that they create. My Yorkshire husband was delighted with his "traditional" English breakfast as I was with choices of fresh fruit and yogurt-cereals, juices and poached eggs for the children. Not only did jan suggest several local restaurants but she made reservations for us on a busy Saturday night. The location is near a lovely park and we walked to the seaside each day. We enjoy staying in B&Bs in both the UK and U.S and would agree with everyone who has written previously that this is one of the very best. Jan and Ed should open a Bed and Breakfast school on "How to do it right". You feel like friends when you leave.....

Room Tip: Our family room was small but well organized with lots of children's games and books in the clos...
