“Great themed site”
Reviewed 26 August 2014

Stayed for 3 nights over August bank holiday weekend with husband and 2 kids aged 8 and 4 in a Western Wagon. The site was great with a cowboy village and an Indian tipi village and had a lovely feel to it. I loved the look of our wagon and it was warm and cosy with handy fridge, microwave, kettle and toaster. The only down side was the sleeping arrangement. We had expected something similar to the wooden Wigwams where the seats and table all convert to beds but this actually had 1 double (4ft) bed and 2 single (2ft wide!) beds. Kids would've fallen out the singles so we gave them the double and the adults attempted to sleep in the ultra narrow singles. I'd definitely go back to the site - we had such a lot of fun in our cowboy hats and kids running around den building and playing tag with their new friends but next time we'll try either the cowboy shacks or tipis as the beds looked a better size. Perfectly located for days out in Scarborough and Whitby.

Room Tip: If you are on the "larger size" don't go for a wagon as the beds are very narrow!

My husband, myself and three kids spent bank holiday weekend here, and had a fab time. We stayed in a Tipi which had comfy pull out beds to sleep on, a heater and light and a small storage chest and a shelf, hooks on the main post.
The owners were really helpful and friendly, the site was quiet and clean.
Great facilities, a small friendly site.
As much as we loved our tipi, we all quite fancy staying in a cabin next time.(kids were a bit worried that Dads snoring would offend others!!)

What a lovely place! We'd booked three families into 2 tipis over the Bank holiday weekend. The reception was well run, £10 for deposit for electric meter; a guided tour pointing out water taps etc. The tipis are set on wooden decking with plenty of space between them. The tents are simple but effective, plenty of room for 4 adults or 5 kids. The beds are futons which are surprisingly comfortable. The woods for the kids to play in are great, lots of trees to climb and plenty of space. The toilet blocks are modern and kept clean. I would certainly come back and probably try the cabins next. Overall, we had a good time, the place gave us a base to see other things in Scarborough.

Room Tip: Tipi 7 is well placed.

I spent 3 nights with my husband and 2 boys aged 10 and 8 along with some good friends whose children are the same ages the weekend of 15-18 August. I have to admit that the thought of a 'glamping' holiday was really not my idea of fun, however, despite the lack of sunshine and very breezy weather we had a fantastic time. It is a perfect site for children with trees to climb and a play field for football matches. The cowboy shack that we stayed in was pleasantly comfortable with futon style beds and basic essentials such as a kettle, small fridge, toaster and heater. Much more than I had anticipated. Thank goodness!

The site was very clean and the showers and toilets were serviced regularly. Kerry and Dave the owners along with their sons were so helpful and really friendly. We would all highly recommend this as a short break holiday with a difference and will definitely be rebooking next year.

Just got back from a 2 night break here, stayed in one of the cowboy shacks with my husband and 2 year old daughter. Really enjoyed the overall theme and layout of the camp, small and very family friendly. All staff were polite and helpful and made us feel right at home! This was our first time camping/glamping and the shacks were ideal for us, having a toddler who might escape a tipi or tent, and also kept us warm with the heater and kettle for hot drinks! It did get very cold in the evening, so highly reccomend taking sleeping bags and layers of clothes! We didnt get chance to hire a chimenea but our neighbours were toasting marshmallows and it smelt delicious, we would definately do this next time! The shower block was very clean and modern, with hot power showers and plenty of space to get ready! We used quite a bit of the electric, but only paid £1 for 2 nights, which considering we used the fridge, heater and charged our phones, is amazing! We would definately come back again and stay in a cowboy shack, our daughter cried when we had to leave!

Room Tip: Cowboy shacks are good for those with small children

We have just spent 2 nights here as a family of 4 (children 8&5). I was really impressed with the site. Clean, well laid out and facilities close by. There was a small children's play area in the woods and plenty of space to play ball!
The tipi's are all on their own decking area and well spaced out. They are basic a lamp, heater and 4 single foam/ plastic covered single chair beds ( not designed with comfort in mind but it's camping!!) I took duvets to lay on as well as cover us so we were fine. The heater warned up the tipi quickly, though it soon cools down in the night once heater is off. The children thought it was amazing sleeping in a tipi, and as I am not a fan of camping I coped!!
We had torrential rain one night and the tipi stayed dry inside though the canvas felt really damp.
The staff were amazing. So friendly and helpful and bent over backwards to help you. They have a little shop where you can buy souvenirs and cowboy and Indian toys for the kids, really good prices.
We ordered bacon sandwiches and a cup of tea to be delivered to the tipi both mornings and it arrived hot and was good value for money. Also good value was the electric, we used £3.50 over the 2 nights which was good considering we had the heater on loads and charged the iPads etc.
We also did the wild encounter experience which was really informative and great fun, highly recommended.
My only gripe is the tipi field is quite close to a busy road and there was a fair amount of noise all night. We slept through it but it may bother others.
All in all a fantastic experience at a fantastic site. Highly recommended. Will visit again but maybe stay in a cowboy shack next time!!

Suggested by a friend, who had been several times. We found the site brilliant for kids - we stayed in a teepee - plenty of freedom for then to roam safely (even to be out of sight!!!) and make friends in the cowboy and Indians themed site (not tacky honest).
The staff were friendly and helpful. The site rule of keeping noise down after 10 worked well and because it is not a large site you do not feel that there would be lots of 'chavs' to ruin the status quo!!!!
