“Great find, great location not to be missed”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 February 2014

Although the outside looks a little tired inside you will receive a true warm welcome and find a scrupulously clean hotel - you smell the freshness as soon as you enter and not a speck of dust to be found. Some may think the decor dated but it is classic hotel as they used to be and all beautifully maintained.
We travelled with our Jack Russell dog who was welcomed to sit in the bar and lounge which was a very pleasant surprise - normally he is restricted to the bedroom which encouraged us to spend more money - good move.
The lift is 'quaint' but it gets you to your floor safely. We asked for a sea view and you could not ask for a better one - we even had blue sky (in February too). The room was of good size with plenty of space for clothes and cases, a really comfy bed with pillows (2 each) which were supportive but cosy and the thickly lined curtains ensured the morning light did not disturb our excellent sleep.
We had some sandwiches on the first night after our show and although the selection was limited what we were presented with were freshly made, well presented, tasty platter of sandwiches - each!
All the food was excellent and following a hearty breakfast we decided to eat there in the evening, although some of the dishes were slightly unusual (prawns in a sauce in a choux boat) they were all well good using quality ingredients - compliments to the chef. And what a pleasure to find food served on hot plates, silverware which was not just clean but polished with pride. And the service is professional, fast, friendly - fabulous!
This is how hotels used to be, providing quality service, food with pride whilst offering value for money. Long may you all continue - we will be back.

Room Tip: Sea view is a must and don't forget to purchase a parking permit at Reception for cheaper parkin...

We stayed for 2 nights 21 and 22 of February, we wanted a quick break to perk up the post winter blues, reviews were good and we could take our Westie as well. Very pleasant and helpfull Reception Staff, sea view room was good, but the big plus was the superb quality food and dervice. Its along time since we have received such fabulous attention and the food complemented the excellence of the experience. The only downside was the parking - which could be a problem at peak times - but did not detract from agrea stay

Had a one night stay as a special 50th treat.
Nice double room with a sea view, no extra charge for our two BIG dogs and wonderful service.
Very nice 3 course dinner and a simply scrummy English breakfast.

We have just returned from our second visit to the Mount Hotel. On this occasion we stayed for 3 nights. We LOVE this hotel. We stayed in the Macarthur Suite (room 36). This room has stunning sea views from all its 4 windows (even the bathroom!) and on our arrival was spotlessly clean. Being one of the "executive suites" this room was very spacious and had the advantage of being able to close the wooden folding doors to separate the bedroom from the lounge area should you wish to. In our opinion, it is well worth spending that little bit extra for a suite with a sea view....particularly if you are staying more than one night.

Breakfast was delicious (again, lovely sea views from your table as you eat breakfast) and was served with a smile by the seemingly unflappable Linda. Nothing was too much trouble for Linda or for the rest of the staff at The Mount. Options for breakfast include fruit juices, cereals, grapefruit, kippers and traditional english breakfast (you can create your bespoke breakfast from the items on the menu....a nice change from having to have everything even if you don't want it) all served with as much toast as you want.

Evening meals in the restaurant are also delicious and very reasonably priced. If you don't know Scarborough very well then it is a definite advantage to eat in the hotel restaurant as you don't have to waste time searching for somewhere decent to eat (a mistake we regrettably made on our first visit to The Mount a couple of years ago!). Service in the restaurant is faultless.....waitress Linda again serving with speed and her ever present smile! The food is gorgeous.....I enjoyed the swiss black cherries in port so much that I ordered them every night!!!

The staff at The Mount are without exception friendly and helpful and we enjoyed having a pre-dinner drink in the bar each night whilst having a chat with the lovely staff.

The stay was marred ever so slightly by a fire alarm being set off early one morning! However, once again the staff rose to the occasion (once it had been established that it was a false alarm!) bringing out blankets, chairs and even offering cups of tea whilst we waited outside in our pajamas for the fire brigade!!!!

The Mount is an old fashioned hotel, run the way hotels used to be. We love this style of hotel but it would not suit those of you who want a modern, minimalist style of hotel room. Staying at The Mount is like travelling back to the 1950s or 1960s........old fashioned values of customer service, style and comfort prevail.

We will definitely be returning to The Mount again and would highly recommend it to anyone wishing to visit Scarborough.

Room Tip: Worth requesting a sea view room...room 36 (executive suite) particularly good.

Just came back from spending a few days at this Hotel.
It was a great experience from start to finish, we were greeted with a lovely receptionist at the front desk who couldn't be nicer. The few days were fab, ALL the staff including the cleaning staff were so welcoming and friendly, the room had a great view and was clean and tidy.
The breakfast was fab and the lady running the breakfast was simply amazing and couldn't do enough for us. We had a great time and all ur staff are a credit to the hotel
We loved all the little touches to make our stay memorable
Thank you for making our trip from London to Yorkshire a great experience and we will certainly come again
Well done the Mount Hotel !!!!!!!! 10 out of 10

Just spent valentines weekend here and had a great time. Lovely room with a stunning view out to sea. The staff were very friendly and polite and nothing was a bother, we took our dog on this occasion and he was more than welcome in the hotel room and the bar. We spent the first night in the hotel due to the weather as it raining and very windy. Most of the night was spent in the bar were the atmosphere was relaxed and due to the beer pumps due to get refurbished they were selling of there beer at £1 a pint what a result. Later on we had the food in the restaurant and had the best cooked steak i have ever had..Parking can be a bit of a nightmare as there is a lot of surrounding hotels, guests competing for public spaces as there is no specific hotel parking allowed. However perseverance will pay of if you be patient and wait a little . Would definitely recommend this place to anyone wanting to stay in a great location in Scarborough.

Room Tip: Get the sea view option

Me,my partner and couple of friends booked in for Sunday lunch. Not just an average lunch with a choice of 4 starters, 4 main courses and then an excellent choice of deserts with coffee/ tea and chocolate for our 4 th course, all for £16.50. The service was brilliant and the silver service was a lovely touch. Very professional and nothing is too much bother. We will all be returning not only for Sunday lunch but also during the week for evening meal. I live local and will be spreading the word.
