“A fantastic treat.”
Reviewed 11 July 2011

This was a wedding present from my Brother and Sister in law a two day break following our wedding. It was the perfect present as it provided us with a relaxing and indulgent setting.
The Hotel staff and manager provided excellent service throughout our stay, very friendly and always looking to help.
The actual hotel is set in amazing grounds, the views are fantastic and we were lucky to have the weather to be able to enjoy playing croquet on the lawns (we gave it a go and really enjoyed it). We had a little wonder around but imagine you could spend a good afternnon exploring the grounds to the full.
We had a standard room in respect of the hotel but it was huge with a King Size bed and a lounge area with a sofa. The colours were quiet loud and not really mine or my wifes taste but even so the bedroom was fantastic. The slight negative would be the bathroom, it was a little dated and quiet small not perfect but only a slight floor.
The best thing about the Hotel and the reason above all else would be the food, every meal we ate was delightful it is the first place we have stayed where my wife has both liked the look of the menu, found it difficult to choose due to options and then really enjoyed the meal.
Overall I can not say that we will definitely revisit as it was a treat, the service, bedroom, grounds and especially food were fantastic the bathroom in the rooms are pretty small and check bar prices as a pint will cost £4.50. I would definitely reccommend if your looking for a relaxing stay away fro reality.

Room Tip: We stayed in room 4, a standard room which had wonderful views and was of a really good size.

I booked the hotel for a two night stay for my mums 70th birthday, we had a truely fantastic weekend, the suite my parents were given was amazing, a real nice surprise for them. May we thank Anne and her excellent team of staff for there hospitality, nothing was too much trouble and you all made us feel so welcome, the service was second to none. We had dinner on both evenings, the food was absolutely devine. We shall look forward to staying again in the near future. Julia & Paul McCormack.

We were really thorough when reasearching where to stay and valued the reviews on tripadvisor. We were looking for a hotel that would help us to "get away from it all". We were not dissapointed. After some confusion on arrival, we went on to have the perfect five day break. We stayed in the suit which is outstanding and well worth booking for special occassions. The food was excellent. Being vegetarian there is only one choice on the menu however on one evening I asked if I could have something different which did not seem to be an issue for the restaurant staff. I have stayed n many hotels through work and leisure and can honestly say this hotel is outstanding. The staff are professional but in a relaxed and friendly way. The food is well presented and tasty. The atmosphere in the hotel adds to the way in which guests interact with each other. We met some lovely people which enhanced our stay. We would like to thank Amy for her kindness on Sunday, it was really appreciated. Clive who interjected a great sense of humour, Most of all we would like to thank Anne, who is a special person who gives 100% to all the guests. We hope that both your special birthday and your daughters wedding goes well . Special thanks also to Mrs Turner who was very kind and undertstanding.

having returned from a special break at this charming hotel, where staff, food and setting was a first class package i returned home chilled out and relaxed.the only downside of this hotel was the bar prices which were far above the average for even a 5 star hotel,to pay £3 to £3.50 for coke or a mixer is a joke,i can only drink a small amount of alcohol for health reasons so found these prices unreal, the most i have ever payed for soft drinks in a hotel was £1.80 this meant i drove to scaleby village for after dinner drinks its a shame to leave the hotel but with my partners drink of vodka and coke it was too expensive to stay drinking in bar or terrace.i thank the staff for their attention and excellent service,m mccalllie scotland

We have just returned from a wonderful 2 night break with Travelzoo at this excellent hotel. The huge room, tasefully decorated, had great views over the surrounding countryside and certainly had the wow factor. All the staff were friendly and efficient and Ann, the manager was always on hand to handle any queries. The food was excellent and served in a lovely setting. Would we return? Definitely!!!
