The insolvency of the group of which WH was part, caused us not to make our usual (for the last 5 years) winter visit. News of new ownership, especially with the retained management team and chef, tempted us back. It is a very good experience and will be outstanding as the tasteful improvements are implemented and the new owners' influence is established, Very refreshing to see valuable changes without in any way detracting from the special ambience and service that was Wrea Head and is now Wrea Head Hall. The food is even more attractive now that Chef Andrew has been liberated from the former Group regime and is allowed and encouraged to demonstate his undoubted talents. (see Restaurant review). All the signs are the answer wil be a very definite- Yes.

This was our first stay at the Hotel and we have nothing but praise for it. The staff were excellent and very attentive. It was a peaceful atmosphere in a beautiful setting. The food was first class with an excellent and varied menu. Our bedroom was comfortable and was everything we could wish for. We certainly hope to revisit again before too long. Thank you to everyone at the Hotel

We have just returned from a fabulous stay at the Wrea Head that we booked for two nights. At the end of our two night stay though we found it difficult to leave as the food, location and staff were exceptional and so decided to extend our stay for two further nights. This change of plan was met with absolute efficiency by Ann, the Manager, who happily organised another room for the new guests arriving that day so that we were not inconvenienced. Whilst staying we had an opportunity to meet one of the new owners and we were aware of how personally committed they are to not only giving the hotel a refreshing makeover, but to also maintaining the very best experience possible for their guests. We would like to finish by extending our thanks to all the staff that looked after us and wishing those staff, and the new owners, our very best wishes for a successful future.

We have stayed at the Wrea Head on a number of occasions. In March this year, with a group of a dozen friends, we learned of imminent new management, and we were intrigued to see what plans they had for a grand if slightly faded establishment.

A 2 night stay a week ago showed that not only are those plans imaginative and extensive, but they are already well under way in terms of implementation. The bar completely re-decorated and awaiting new carpet; the dining room re-decorated and also awaiting new carpet, not to mention 3 antique French mirrors - all this accomplished in little more than a month. A most impressive beginning!

Not only that, the improvements show that the new owners - Mark and Jerry - have taste and are very much determined to retain the character and charm of a delightful and gracious building. They met and chatted to all the guests, and we really felt as though we were with old friends.

The food was excellent, as we have come to expect at the Wrea Head, and the staff without exception were friendly and helpful. Our one regret was that we weren't able to stay longer, but we have re-booked our group for next year.

Mark and Jerry have made an outstanding start to their refurbishment programme, and the future looks good for them and their staff. We hope to be back soon to see how they're progressing.

Rosie & Jim Brooks

We weren't sure what to expect on our return trip to Wrea Head after hearing it was under new management. We last visited in July 2010 and for us the staff made our stay very enjoyable. Although the owners may have changed, we were pleased to see the familiar friendly faces of the manager Ann, deputy manager Lyndsey, Nicky on reception and a wonderful new barman/waiter Jack. Thankfully the fantastic chefs are still with the new owners Jerry and Mark. The food was of the highest standard and we were catered for very well indeed. Jerry and Mark have been busy making over the dining room, bar and other public areas, but still had time to sit and chat to all the guests. We can't wait for our next visit to the Wrea Head as we feel we were part of a family and not just guests in the hotel. Good luck to Jerry and Mark, you have a beautiful hotel in a fantastic location, wonderful staff, excellent chefs and we can only see you succeeding in everything you do. CONGRATULATIONS!
