Wrea Head Hall is a gem - we spent a great night being well looked after by the lovely staff team. Our room was delightful and well worth the upgrade. We are already recommending this hotel to family and friends who are looking for a short, restful break.

Room Tip: Go fir the upgrade to superior - well worth it.

I had a last minute trip to Scarborough for work and I could not find the usual business hotels in the area, so I booked this one with some apprehension as I did not know what standard to expect.

On arrival I was initially impressed by the building and grounds and as the evening progressed I was even more impressed by the customer service which is often lacking in the larger chain hotels. My room had been upgraded because there was sufficient availability, my difficult eating habits were catered for without question and the room service charge was even waived. The staff (in particular Anne) couldn't have done more to make my stay incredibly pleasant and stress free.

Although I was away on business and it is probably not peak season, I couldn't help but notice the incredibly reasonable prices which would be unheard of in the South of the UK. I would expect to pay at least twice the price to stay in a hotel of a similar standard in the South.

I would recommend this hotel for anyone that is away alone on business, for companies looking for a meeting venue and also for couples wanting some time away.

Room Tip: Ask for one of the refurbished rooms

Stayed for 2 nights on 23rd/24th Oct in Room 4 .

We'd stayed many years ago and were intrigued to visit again when we heard it had been taken over and a refurb was taking place.

Room 4 is absolutely huge with an amazing view, its not been refurbished yet (which we knew in advance) but this didnt detract from an overall lovely stay. The room itself is very comfortable with masses of space and a sofa area. Really its the bathroom that lets it down but its not awful, just small and not a patch on the refurbished ones.

We did get shown around some of the refurbished rooms before we left and they really are lovely, you can see money has been spent on quality bathrooms and the rooms themselves are very tasteful.

The staff here are excellent, very polite and nothing is too much trouble. Service and the food in the restaurant was extremely good and of a high standard. We also found the breakfast to be one of the best we've had, and we've stayed in some lovely hotels. The gentlemen who looked after us at breakfast on both days was also very prompt and well mannered.

We will definately return !

We stayed here for our anniversary and we will be returning. Lovely food and friendly efficient staff. We stayed in a standard double room which was plenty spacious, although the bathroom was small (hubby over 6ft). Very well decorated and cosy. A lovely view of the garden. Food in the restaurant was excellent and good value. We will definitely be returning but might try a bigger room.

Room Tip: Would advise a larger room if you like the space.

This really is a stunning building set in magnificent grounds and we had wonderful views of the garden from our bedroom. It was clearly one of the refurbished rooms, small but very tastefully decorated. There were a couple of small things - there was no socket to plug in the kettle anywhere near where the tray was located so you had to plug it into the socket by the bedside table and the sink in the bathroom had definitely been chosen for style over practicality. However, that aside the public rooms were delightful, the staff extremely helpful and the breakfast absolutely delicious. We certainly would have appreciated a little help with our cases as we had to climb quite a lot of stairs to reach our room but really these are small niggles and can almost be disregarded because the lasting impression of this particular hotel is that it is delightful and we would have no hesitation in staying there again.
