From our arrival on Monday afternoon until we left on Wednesday morning the whole experience was fabulous. The building and grounds are impressive and the interior is lovely too. The hotel bedrooms are being systematically renovated and we had one of the renovated rooms. The shower is really powerful and the bath (in the room) is the most comfortable I've ever used, lovely for a luxurious soak. The huge bed and tasteful furnishings made for an extremely pleasant accommodation. The guests lounge is a comfortable place to sit and read a book or the paper. The bar is pleasant too and we had a drink and ordered our dinner there before proceeding to the dinning room. We had dinner on two nights. The food was extremely good. All the dishes were imaginative, with great ingredients and well executed. Breakfast was also very good. In addition to the traditional full English there were other options such as smoked haddock with a poached egg on top, kippers and more. Finally the service from reception to the bar and the dinning room was attentive without being pushy. The service combines a concern to do things right but without being snooty. Friendly but professional. All in all a fabulous experience. We will be back.

Room Tip: Ask for a renovated room.

We just spent two nights at Wrea Head to attend the wedding of friends. Due to the excellent value we took the dinner, bed and breakfast option for the first night and we weren't disappointed! The room was lovely and comfortable with beautiful views and the food was fantastic. The staff are also very welcoming and extremely helpful. Special thanks to Ann for everything. We will definitely return!

Myself and ushers & best man stayed at hotel night before my wedding that was taking place at another venue. All staff were very helpful for our needs and made us feel very comfortable. We took a look around a refurbished room which I would highly recommend. Overall highly recommended hotel would def stay again.

Booked the stay as a post New Years night away, pre booked room 8 based on the details on the website, we knew the room was closing for a referb that month so were expecting slightly tired fittings, however when we arrived the room was not as described the description given was for the refurbishment room not the room that was there !! (Website now adjusted) Major disappointment, to be fair we were moved to another room (20) that had been done and was lovely and finished to a high standard. Only downside is beyond the main stairways the building is lacking in TLC and needs some serious attention to the decor however would love to come back and see how its evolving over time.
Booked a DB&B trip and the meals were very good, the staff were fantastic and very helpful.
Will return....

We love this hotel - we have visited it for romantic weekends for nearly 10 years & it never disappoints. The hotel is beautiful, the service faultless, the food excellent all overseen by the marvellous manager Anne for whom nothing is too much trouble! So much so that we are returning in the summer to celebrate my 50th birthday and my mothers 70th and bringing all the family with us. Really looking forward to our next visit already!

We booked the Wrea Hotel for a family get together before Christmas and our stay could not have been better. We knew we were in for a treat as we approached the hotel through private grounds and the beautiful setting drew gasps from everyone in the car! Following a very warm welcome we explored the building and grounds – the hotel has retained much of its architectural heritage with stone walls and gorgeous large windows, the rooms downstairs are very luxurious and beautifully furnished and decorated. Our bedroom also exceeded our expectations – with a king size bed and an amazing, white tiled bathroom. We also decided to eat dinner in the hotel and the family group of more than 20 were treated to a private dining room. The three course dinner was delicious and the experience overall was heightened by the beautiful and intimate surroundings. Unfortunately we had only booked for one night and we wished it could have been longer – after a cooked breakfast the next morning we said our farewells to the staff – all of whom had been very friendly and attentive to our every need during our visit. As we drove away and the hotel disappeared from sight we started to think about our return visit. One of the best hotel experiences we have ever encountered, I could not recommend it enough.
