The beautiful Wrea Head Hall most definitely surpassed even our highest expectations. The genuine friendliness and attentiveness of the staff was apparent the second we stepped through the door. We were shown into a conservatory that overlooked beautiful lawns and presented stunning views where our afternoon tea was served. When it arrived we were pleasantly surprised by the plentiful and mouthwatering selection of cakes and sandwiches along with scones that were accompanied by a generous helping of strawberry jam and large servings of clotted cream. There was a choice of either tea or coffee with refills available. The service was second to none and the whole experience was wonderful. We will most definitely be returning soon.

PC gremlins are banished at last and I am able to add my review to endorse the No.1 status in Scarborough of the Wrea Head. We had a three night pre-Christmas break. Warmly welcomed at reception and helped with our luggage (not always offered in a lot of hotels). Hotel refurbishment underway but no obvious disruption inside the building. Throughout our stay the contractors kept a very low profile and seemed to work in silence (if only they were available in our part of the world). Had sight of some of the refurbished rooms and they were indeed impressive without being over fussy (will certainly opt for one on our next visit). The staff were most helpful, pleasant and efficient, as was demonstrated one evening. Our dinner order was taken, when, within a short time, the pain my wife suffers due to a medical condition intensified and she felt unable to dine in the restaurant. I asked for the meal to be cancelled (already paid for in our package) and asked to see a room menu. After a moments thought, Anne, the manageress, informed us that as our room had a table and two chairs she would be happy to serve our selected meal in our room and that we should phone down as we completed each course in order to maintain a smooth service. Indeed it proved to be so - thanks to all the staff. The breakfast service each morning was also worthy of special note. We enjoyed all the food and the relaxed dining room ambience. The Wrea Head Hall Hotel offers a high level of quality and service and the refurbishment will only enhance its already good reputation.

Room Tip: Check web for refurbished rooms - all are good.

We recently stayed at the hotel and I must say, it was excellent value for money. The hotel is set in countryside just to the north of Scarborough and is in the process of being refurbished, although this doesn't affect residents. we stayed for 3 nights on their bed, breakfast and evening meal deal.

The breakfasts are excellent, plenty of choice for the cooked options and various cereals, fresh fruits salads with yoghurts. At dinner, there are two options, the include fixed price menu and a more indulgent menu that you can select from and pay a supplement. As we stayed for 3 nights, we found that the fixed priced menu was the same on the first and last night and the indulgence menu was the same all 3 nights. Perhaps there is an argument for a nightly special on both menus for main courses to give an option. Overall the cooking was good, although I did have a lemon meringue pie/tartlet with a pastry case that I couldn't penetrate with a fork and spoon, so I just ate the filling. A scallop and prawn pasta course on the second night was the best dish.

Staff are friendly and efficient. Our bedroom was comfortable and had a separate bed for our son, although we had to ask for towels to be provided for him, even though its a triple room, which were then provided promptly.

The hotel is in its own wooded grounds and there were plenty of sitting areas within the hotel for relaxation. I would certainly recommend the hotel to friends.

We stayed for 1 night in room 17 and took advantage of the evening meal offer. The food on the standard menu was superb and we didn't feel the need to upgrade to the indulgence menu. The breakfast was also excellent with a good variety or hot and cold options. You don't notice the refurbishment and i'm sure the hotel will be even better once it has been completed. We will definitely return for another stay!
