Very nice hotel, friendly staff apart from recepionist who checked us in (felt we were a trouble to her). Rooms were nice (please provide cleaning staff with feather duster to remove all cobwebs). Restaurant and it's staff were fantastic excellent food, romantic setting. We would definately return.

This was a lovely country house hotel with real fires and comfortable lounges, one an impressive library. Bedrooms were clean and quite spacious. The food was mediocre and several of the breakfast dishes required an additional payment. Almost non existent continental selection. Despite this we would not hesitate to return. The food was excused by the very reasonable price we paid for DBB.

We must mention Ann who appeared to run this hotel single handedly. Nothing was too much trouble and she helped make our stay very enjoyable.

We arrived at this hotel at the end of a very stressful week and left feeling nicely relaxed. The hotel is in a very good setting and whilst in good weather we might have wished to explore the grounds of the hotel, the biting cold and the threat of snow encouraged us to remain indoors around the nice cosy fires. Our room (16) was spacious and comfortable although it was immediately obvious that there was a problem with the central heating. Although the hotel did their best to resolve the problem they were not successful and therefore provided us with a free standing heater to supplement the central heating. This made the room warm and there were no other issues; a free bottle of wine on the Friday evening completed the feel good factor. The food in the restaurant was very good although we did feel that the supplements were a bit pricey. The staff were helpful, friendly and provided a good service. We would go again and would recommend this hotel to others seeking a quiet and relaxing break.
