If you want to experience a great country side of house hotel, this is the place. Especially the great view.
Visiting from the other side of the world, Taiwan.

The room was large, clean and with all the expected bits and pieces. The view across the grounds was super and the deer and rabbits and birds made the gardens for us. The staff could not have been more helpful and friendly but did their jobs without interfering. The breakfast was huge or light as you wanted and the evening meal really well cooked and presented. The location close to Scarborough and the moors is ideal for younger families and older visitors. This was our third visit in15 months and I hope to return. My son and his Taiwanese daughter enjoyed this as a base and easily reached York for a day visit.

We went here for my 60th birthday and to say it was memorable would be an understatement!. Our room was tired and in need of some refurbishment especially the bathroom and it lacked those lttle touches that make a stay perfect- no tissues, toiletries were cheap and not renewed daily, toilet paper rationed to one and not in a holder which was broken etc. But the worst thing was that in a very hot spell, only one small half sash window could be opened- all the others had been painted shut. Complaints were met by indifference from the first receptionist who didn't bother to pass the message onto anyone (probably knew that nothing could/would be done).the second person (so called assistant manager) blamed "management" who apparently wasn't going to be available until after we were due to leave. Our requests for a fan were also ignored. If anyone stays there this week with temperatures of 90, they probably won't survive the experience. When we left, no-one asked us if we had a nice stay- they probably knew the answer!
there is also no lift and no-one to carry your bags up the stairs until after 6 p.m. at night.
On the good side, the food was nice and the evening staff ,who looked like college students, were fine as were the breakfast staff but the reception could definitely do with a course in customer care.
Nice setting but let down by all of the above.

The hotel is set in beautifully kept gardens, ample parking, more than adequate room space with all mod cons, fridge, hairdryer flat screen tv brilliant. The hotel Manager is so friendly and helpful. The food is excellent, the service is on point. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our 2-night stay celebrating our 3rd wedding aniversary. This hotel has got the thumbs up from us and we would definately recommend it to others.

Staff were very pleasant and attentive, food was very good and the bed very comfortable. Only stayed the one night this time but our lasting memory is of sitting on the terrace on a balmy evening watching the rabbits at play.

Fabulous location and grounds. Arrived via sweeping drive of rhododendrons and able to park outside main entrance. Excellent hospitality on arrival and throughout. Partner upgraded to suite for a birthday surprise which was amazing. Large comfortable lounge complete with 42" flat screen TV and another flat screen TV over the bath in the luxurious bathroom. The bedroom was again large with a huge comfortable bed and another TV.
The food was delicious and the menu varied each day. Breakfast was also excellent. Comfortable bar/lounge and as the weather was glorious we sat on the terrace for our aperitifs watching a game of cricket across the valley. What more could you ask for? A truly relaxing weekend - we will certainly be returning.
