Pat, my wife and I, have just had two days at our favourite Scarborough hotel. This was our fifth visit. and we were looked after very very well again. We will be going back for the friendly staff and great food.

The Wrea Head is not very well sign-posted but is in a great location, up a long driveway & in lovely grounds so is very quiet. Helpful staff, had our bag carried to our room but not terribly impressed with the room. It was tired & in need of a refurb. To be fair there were decorators outside on the morning we left so perhaps it's imminent. Paint was flaking off & the windows were covered in mould. The blind in the bathroom wasn't clean & neither was the bath. We had room 12 which I wouldn't recommend, it was right at the top of the staff stairs to the kitchen & so you could smell cooking all the time. Kippers from 7am is not pleasant!
Food was nice, staff helpful & grounds peaceful but wouldn't go back in a hurry. For the money I would expect a little better.
We decided on a last minute break and chose this hotel after reading trip advisor reviews - they weren't wrong. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay - the hotel is beautiful and in a wonderful setting, our suite was stunning, the service from everyone was outstanding - professional yet friendly, the food was very good indeed and the starters and desserts in particular were excellent. There was a warmth that we have not felt in other hotels of a similar quality. Indeed, we look forward to another visit in the not too distant future.
This is a beautiful house with wonderful views and the staff were all very attentive and welcoming. Our room had extraordinarily narrow space to sit in on the loo - watch out if you are generously sized!! The mattress needs replacing as does the blind, but the views were great.
The food was OK. As another reviewer has suggested, you can't take the kitchen seriously when the menu is a laminated card, and I too ran out of choices on the second night. Also, surely if you're providing a cheeseboard none of the cheeses should be straight out of the fridge!! Breakfast wasn't special (cold croissants?! and poached egg reeking of vinegar?!)
I travel a lot and I'm spoiled. This is a friendly hotel in a lovely place and if you get a deal you will have good value. (The dinner menu is all a la carte so do check how much you can spend!) You will enjoy the period reception rooms.
Brilliant stay ,excellent surroundings and location. This was my 60th birthday celebration and we could not have selected better .
Made very much at home by the excellent hard working and efficient front of house staff . Nothing was too much trouble . High tea is a must overlooking the lawns.
The food was of a consistently high standard throughout our stay with an excellent selection .
The Hotel was situated well off the road within well tended gardens and having a magnificent vista of surrounding countryside. Our room was furnished with traditional furniture in keeping with the Country House style of building and the en-suite was modern and well fitted with ample white fluffy towels provided. Our package was inclusive with Afternoon Tea and Dinner and were both to a very good standard, particulary dinner which was excellent. We also found the staff most attentive and helpful.
We would definitely recommend.
