“Flying Visit”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 April 2014

My friend and I stayed overnight at the Grainary. We arrived quite late - received a warm welcome and very soon we were tucking into an excellent meal and wine.
Breakfast was equally good.
The room was comfy and cosy. The friendly family run venture is branching out and expanding their ideas sound exciting.
Sadly our visit was all too short but I will be returning shorly no doubt this time with my brood of grandchildren as there was so much for them to see and do.
Go and visit -I assure you you wont be disappointed.

We really enjoyed our dog friendly short break. The room was clean, the bedding and towels smelled fresh and the staff were very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the animals, the walks and the fabulous view from the house. I rarely enjoy the coffee at breakfast but here I did. The selection for breakfast was excellent as was the food itself. We also enjoyed afternoon tea in the conservatory and again, the food was lovely. Overall, this is one of a very few places that I would visit again and will probably do so when our grandchildren are old enough to enjoy the facilities. Highly recommended.

I am a coffee fanatic after living in Seattle (home of Starbucks) in my twenties. So I do love to make sure that all guests can enjoy a nice cup in the mornings whilst admiring the views.

=)

We do very good tea as well, but I leave that to the others to deal with! =)

See you soon hopefully

First time at the Grainary with our 3 year old granddaughter, because this is a working farm animals are on site, even so, it was very safe for her to run round and let of steam, she even managed to feed a baby lamb with some milk which was a highlight for her.
The staff were very friendly and made you feel at home almost immediately, plenty of refreshment in room and all around if required. The family room was very spacious and having the bath was a bonus for the little one. The outside play area is very nice and kept her amused for quite some time.
The only grip (and this is a very minor one) you can only have access to Wi-Fi down stairs and not in your room...
Having said that I'm sure we will be returning again and wouldn't have any problems recommending it to family and friends.
Well done the Grainary for such a wonderful retreat

Thanks for the review and feedback. Unforutantly the layout of our business means the wifi can only stretch so far. Our wifi is very new in the public areas and I know from travelling with my child that the access to YouTube and the interenet is crucial at times =)

Hopefully when the government and BT opening super fast broadband to the rural parts of the world we might be able to get quicker broadband to all of our guests and it can then stretch to all the rooms.
I must admit though, I do like to see everyone sat in our cosy living room chatting and getting to know each other..Even if they are mostly glued to their ipads and tablets haha

Thanks again, and we look forward to seeing you soon

Just returned home from a 2 night stay at The Grainary. My husband and I stayed last year and loved it so much that we returned again with our 11 year old son. As always a fantastic place to stay or even visit for the day. The food is fantastic, I don't think we will eat for a month. There is plenty to do and see on the farm, the walks are lovely especially around the lake and our son enjoyed taking the dogs for a walk around the farm. At this time of year there are plenty of lambs to see and even a couple to pet (our son called them Chewy - he sucked your finger and crumble). The rooms were very clean and comfortable. John, Linda, Mark and Laura were so welcoming, We had a fantastic time as always and can't wait to return again. Steve, Trace & Ty, Hull

Room Tip: Room 12 is fantastic for families which sleeps up to 5 people. The kids have their own room with bu...

The weather was ideal, so myself and my daughters had a trip out to The Grainary and enjoyed seeing the many animals on this working farm. I liked it so much I came back again the following day with my partner where we enjoyed a few sections of the many walks provided around the farm land. Unfortunately we were not hungry having had a late breakfast but the menu looked great and very reasonably priced we ordered a pot of tea while enjoying the lovely views across the valley. We will definitely be back. Well done to all concerned for providing a great place to spend a day out in the heart of Harwood Dale for all the family.

Me and my family have just returned home after a couple of nights break at the Grainary. We have been a handful of times now, and we will be back again in the near future as it is such a nice place to stay. The location is fantastic - the views of Harwood Dale are great and there is plenty to explore in the surrounding area. The Grainary itself is comfortable and homely, with extremely friendly staff (and animals!). I would recommend it to anybody. Thanks for having us!!!
