Late booking for good prices meant we were in a rear economy room. Here and throughout there are signs of a bit of renovation needed. however it was clean and comfortable. Bathroom looked to have been newly updated and was fine.
Meals were excellent and well recommended. Good menu, nicely presented.
Staff friendly and very helpful, putting themselves out to make our stay enjoyable.
Good site for central location in town with easy access to amenities. Parking not the best as have to use public areas but unloading is ok at front door.

Room Tip: You have to pay for the superior rooms for a front view. Budget deals will have you stay at the back and nothing top look out at.

Stayed here for a night out at the casino.
Firstly: Location is top notch, very good restaurants situated close by, casino is a short walk and several pleasant wine bars. Beach just down the hill
Secondly: Remarkably good value for money
Thirdly: The pool is amazingly bad!
Finally: The breakfast is remarkably good!

People are complaining about this hotel and comparing it to a Travelodge / Premier Inn This is a beautiful, period building with traditional furniture, carpeted public areas and it exudes a little bit of sophistication... The Travlodge and Prem Inn are the McDonalds of the Hotel world offering homogenised food and accommodation, If you are a fan of those places Hotels like the Royal will give you a heart attack.

The place is in need of some TLC, but is clean and in an ideal location. If you had stayed there a decade ago you would be paying the same price as you would next week. It represents excellent value for money, the breakfast is good and most of the staff are friendly, helpful and speak English as a first language.

The pool though is remarkable...OMG. It is designed to replicate the famous Ice Planet Hoth from Star Wars. It has a cave theme, feels cold, has an abundance of pubes I broke my golden rule and swam in cloudy water. When I was a young man I used to maintain swimming pools, when they are cloudy it is generally an bacterial bloom (you get ear infections, tummy ache, etc.) My wife was really looking forward to a swim so I swam. No adverse effects, but I would strongly recommend that you do not use this pool.

The place is in administration, but this is irrelevant as the staff are still there as are the management the only people who were not doing their jobs are the idle gentlemen in the pool area.

A nice hotel in need of a little modernisation and certain staff members could do with a lesson in customer service. The hotel is perfectly situated for the train station, beach and town.

The chap on the door and Becca (both in the breakfast room) were extremely helpful :)

Thanks for a lovely stay.

Room Tip: Rooms at the front of the hotel have the best view but are a little noisy next to the main road in the evenings

We booked this hotel through one of the Internet offer sites. We upgraded our room to a sea view. The staff were very friendly and helpful, the breakfast was superb and the hotel was clean. Would recommend to anybody

Room Tip: Sea view as it is at the top overlooking the beach and marina

I was extremely pleased with the helpful, friendly staff, nothing was to much trouble. The entrance hall is lovely and the food was excellent. The man on reception,Ed, was happy to look after every inquiry we had without fail.We stayed in a family room and we were really amazed how shabby it was. Also i have never in my life seen such a dirty, horrible swimming pool ever.I was looking forward to the jaccuzi but it was broke. The corridors were a haven for noisy guests, above us they were having a party, outside was like been in a nightclub.I was glad to get back home for a bit of peace and quiet, not my idea of a 2 night weekend break in a posh hotel.
